I am seriously considering buying a phytolaxer for my next touch-up in a month and half. I would like to know if it was hard applying it yourself or if your beautician applied it, did she have to do anything completely different from a regular relaxer. In the past my hair has been extemely weak and lifeless after relaxers. I would like to try this one for straightness but with some life and body. I will be applying the relaxer my self because I don't trust beauticians. Tell me your experiences with it and if you apply it yourself or not.

I have been usign phyto index II faithfully for the past 8 months and I have only attempted to do it myself once. Since phytorelaxers have a tendency to underprocess, and the fact that I was so weary self-relaxing, my hair came out underprocessed in certain parts. If I were to self-relax using it again, I would definetly leave it on longer, but for me that's easier said than done. Hope this helps!

You may want to try these for starters.

I will say that the more product you use, the straighter your hair will get. Quite a few ladies found that to be true, so just an FYI.

Also, there's a some of us that use an acv mixture to neutralize before we shampoo. We just find it works better than whats in the kit (the stuff in the kit works, but it takes me like 10 times to wash out!!!) At any rate, there's a lot of info out there on phyto and how to apply the relaxer for optimum results.

I've always applied it myself. IMO, for any relaxer it depends on how well you prepare before hand. I prepare like mad before I do a touchup and make sure everything is handy.

When I do my Phyto touchups I need 1.5 boxes. I relax twice a year and have quite a bit of newgrowth so that doesn’t mean that you will need that ok? But what I do know is that you gotta be generous with the product when applying it.

:yep: Everywhere I applied more Phyto it relaxed bone straight. I also use an ACV rinse before, during, and after relaxing.

Because I started out applying it too generously (I go for texlax) I actually ran out of relaxer before I was done. Luckily I only had the hairline (which I typically put less anyway) left.

I always self relax w/ phyto.

I find phyto II works better on my NG than the other.

I use the acv rinse after relaxer rinse/b4 neut. poo as well.

I base scalp w/ oil, spray SAA (silk amino acid) on NG, then apply relaxer.

I smooth with my hands, not with a comb (I can FEEL the NG better this way).

I leave it on a bit longer than a reg. relaxer, but not too long.

Turns out GREAT every time!!

I've been using Phyto relaxer II for 3 years and I've always applied it myself. I usually stretch for 18 weeks and use the entire jar during the process. I'm usually left with healthy bone straight hair...I'm a phyto lover and I don't forsee me using any other relaxer. It leaves my hair straight and it hasn't burned me not once since I've been using it.:p
