Hi all!

I'm a newbie and newly natural (BC'd on 6/7/12) and have noticed that my edges dry much faster than the rest of my hair. Also they seem to always need more moisture/ have a harder time retaining moisture than the rest of my hair. What causes this and is there a remedy?
TIA!!

Hi there! My hairline/edges are the same in that they're the thirstiest part. They also dry the fastest (even though my hair takes forever to dry), but honestly I have no remedies to speak of for it. I moisturize the area more often than other parts of my hair. I hope to get answers just as you do. :perplexed

Welcome! Hmmm,my edges used to dry faster as well. I assume that the edges are more porous. Even when I henna, my porosity improves tremendously (may become annoying low porosity hair), but my edges still will dry a liitle sooner. It is usually not a problem when I moisturize and seal all of my hair and pay special attention to my edges near my face. HTH!

The outer layer. Here's a tip instead of air drying. Sit in front of a fan. I think the air makes your hair more wavy lol

Welcome..My front sides drys the fastest..What I do is apply extra leave-in & apply little more butter or what ever moisturizer I decide to use..

*Keep us posted..

Happy Hair Growing!

Mine more or less dries from front to back, with the top center of my head taking the longest to dry because its also the thickest.
