Problem area of hair dries really fast..

I have a problem area on the crown of my head. I think it may be a different texture to the rest of my hair, it is certainly more frizzy and isn't smooth in any sense of the word.

It doesn't seem to have more breakage than other areas or anything too awful but Ive just noticed that after washing my hair, that area at the ends has already dried when the rest of my hair hasn't.

Does it have anything to do with porosity? if so, how do I correct it.

Is it possible that that area is maybe more easily damaged meaning that the ends are disproportionately damaged or something?
Should I cut it?
Should I leave it?
Do I need to do something to it?

Also, I really want to avoid buying things to fix it.

The typical texture of my non-problem areas this is about 60-80% dry now:

My "problem area" texture:
100% dry despite washing all my hair at once...

Side note: The problem area feels really soft and nice, i'm not sure it's damaged but its certainly uneven. Also it dort of looks a tighter texture in this area but looking at my hair in person it almost looks like looser? but not clumped!
So odd.

Although I have had some AWFUL hair cuts in the past which does account for some unevenness.

I have this same issue. That area doesn't grow as fast as the rest of my hair either. I am undecided if it is scab hair or just a different texture. I have low porosity for the most part but maybe that section is more porous so it dries quicker...I give up sometimes trying to figure this hair thing out hahaha

same!
As i'm getting closer to my goals I'm picking up on other areas I want to be perfect haha.

I feel like even if I had butt length healthy hair I'd find some sort of issue haha.

I doubt it is damaged. My hair is very similar to yours and I have the same issue..in fact the girl who cuts my hair said "everyone" has an issue with an area of their hair that doesn't act right. Years ago when I first went natural I thought it was scab hair too, then it suddenly became more manageable. What I do now is, I split my hair and apply my products to that area first, give it extra smoothing for curl definition, and it comes out fine. So that's my advice - baby it and wait it out.

Thank you, but what on earth is "scab hair" I keep hearing about?

I have the same issue. The crown, especially on the left side dries quicker, curls less and hair styles last shorter in this area. I think it is more porous and has a different texture than the rest of my hair. Seems to be a common problem.

I'm glad it's common, I was getting quite worried about it as if i'd been doing something wrong.

I have the same problem too in the right side of my crown. I get more ssks in that area and it doesn't seem to grown as long as my other hair. I don't really know about porosity but I try to apply my conditioner, leave-in, and oils to that area first. I also starting spraying my hair with Aphogee Green Tea and Keratin Restructurizer (sp?) all over and I think that has allowed my hair to retain length in that area.

Thank you!
I'm going to start focusing my products there :)

I have a similar area below my crown.

I BCed this area (I'm transitioning) and I always wear it in a few twist. It's not obvious (not even to me) no matter what my style is, whether braidout, bun, half up/half down, I keep that entire section in a few twists. This way it stays pretty moisturized and always detangled, doesn't give me any problems anymore.

It sounds like that area is high porosity. I would apply product to that area first and seal heavily if your hair likes oils and butters.

My hair is normal to high porosity and dries pretty fast everywhere.

I to like to know if a solution is available. The front of my hair is frizzy but has a curl at the ends. When I was relaxed this same part of my hair always took to straight. Only way I can get my natural hair curled in front is to manipulate it

Nope don't cut it needs more moisture, sealing, etc..... everybody has areas that are coarser, different porosity, slower growing, or frizzier than others.
