Random Hair Thoughts/Thinking out loud

I saw a very unique hair texture on a little boy recently. From a distance, it just looked like any little black boy’s short (1 cm) afro-textured hair, but when he got closer, I saw that the hair was straight. It wasn’t especially dense, and the strands looked coarse, but they were totally straight. I have never seen that hair texture before. The family was Muslim, but I couldn’t tell from which country/ethnicity. The father did not have the same texture; he had the kind of fade that we’ve all seen, and the mom’s hair was covered, so I couldn’t see her texture. It didn’t look like a relaxer either (and the only reason I’m mentioning that is because at the same event, there was a biracial boy with a Dominican mom who actually did have obviously relaxed hair, and every black mom who saw him did a double-take,).

I'm looking into Charlotte Mensah products at the moment. The products look and sound wonderful, they have great reviews, and the sample of her hair oil my friend gifted me smelt wonderful, although I'm yet to try it.

This is the longest I’ve went without wearing my hair in a wash and go.

I seriously started keeping my hair braided October 2024. I kept it in wigs January of 2024 but I didn’t have a seriously long term protective style plan until later in the year. It’s coming up on a year and I’m making a plan for 2026. I still want crochet braids but I’d like to either go with a v part or wig every now and again that I can take off and wash weekly in my braids.

I think I’d retain more being able to wash my braids once a week versus the every four weeks. My hair grows quick when I water it. I can get to APL with my eyes closed washing my hair every two- three days.
