Did you do it yourself or go to a salon? How much did you part with? Why did you trim? Are you happy with your results?

For me, it was Sunday night and I did it myself. I cut under an inch, but man I feel like maybe I got a little crazy with the scissors and cut too much! I keep telling myself it will grow back, it's just hair...:ohwell: I felt I needed it b/c up close my ends were looking kinda scraggily, so I need to fix that problem. I wated clean ends and had reached my goal so it was time to let them scraggily ones go! My hair looks better now and it's easier to comb, gets less tangled...so I guess I'm happy with my trim.

Also...if you did it yourself, do you use a particular method to cut your own hair? Do you cut the same length all over, or just what's needed in each section of hair? Thanks, sorry for all the questions!

Hey...
I had my last trim done at a salon. I parted with about 1/8th-1/4th of an inch. Almost nothing. I'm very happy with the results. It turns out that all my hard work at preserving them has eliminated my need to do mega trims, and the stylist wasn't scissor happy. I made him show me every snip he made because I was bent against having a set back towards my Christmas goal.I told him not to do a normal trim and go all the way around, but to instead trim the areas that specifically needed it. This left me with cleaner lines with lost length. :look:

My last trim was way back in January. I made a vow at the beginning of the year that I would try to only trim once in a 12 month period. It's going so well that I'll probably go a little over the 1 year mark.

I'm not sure exactly how much got taken off but I always tell my hairdresser to only take off a tiny amount and she does. It was probably less than half an inch.

I just had a trim(3in) in June. I went to the salon and let my stylist do it. I have always trimmed my own hair, but it was always uneven and I don't think I was using proper scissors. I have lots of layers too, and I was only really trimming the bottom layers. My stylis did an awesome job, I learned my lesson, I am going to let her do it from now on!

I do my own trims, and my last one was in the beginning of August. I just come my hair all down ( all around) and then trim. I have a blunt cut so it is pretty easy.

My last trim was August 5th. I will be getting another trim this Friday (October 7th) and I will be trying out a new salon that I heard about on this forum.

Mine was in May. I can't say exactly what was chopped off but I was past APL and went down to about two inches. I went to the salon to get it cut. I really needed it too. it was damaged and uneven and I'm much happier now :look:

Last Sunday, October 2, 2005. I went to a salon to have it done. My hair was uneven from my BC. The stylist just evened everything up so it is hard to say how much. I would say maybe 1/4-1/2 inch in some spots. I love the results, the unevenness was driving me crazy and now I know for sure all my relaxed ends are gone.

I did a dusting a couple weeks ago. My last major trim was November 2004. I just do dustings here and there. Since I wear protective styles the majority of the time trims for me are not really needed. When I get past bra strap I may trim for blunt, even ends. Until then nothing major.

July 4th 2005 a deep trim was done by a stylist and I lost about 2 to 2.5 inches of damaged, uneven & split hair. I was glad to have a fresh start. When I got my consultation I informed him that I wanted to grow my hair out but I knew that I had uneven lengths and damaging color that needed to go. It was a wise decision for me. I was pleased and even more so now because their is a growth difference since then as well as my hair looking healthier and more vibrant !

Thanks for all your responses ladies, I feel better about my cut reading your stories.

Bmm, next time I'm going to do your method.

My last trim was 5 months ago... in May. I was very happy with the results. It was less than 2 inches. My old stylist had been giving me 2-3 inch "trims" every 2 months and it seemed like my hair never grew.

I plan to get my hair dusted (there IS a difference) in December. I feel like I am on a NO trim, NO chemical regimen!

sometime in June .... about 1/2 inch .. I was tempted to do it again .. but i stop myself .. and I won't trim again until next year

My last trim was June 7th at the salon when I went to get a Dudley DRC treatment and get my highlights put in. My hair has grown a whole lot since the trim and its still shiny and healthy.
