:perplexed If a stylist tells you that she has never heard of a protein treatment should I be concerned?

run out of there as fast as Angela Bassett in What's Love Gotta Do With It!

run...run very fast...did you say "stylist?" lol

LMAO I'm mad you even made this thread.

Yes. But if you really like her as your stylist than enlighten her if you feel like it. Chances are she knows that certain products like aphogee can help your hair, but she won't know why. There are a lot of stylists, especially younger ones, that have a thirst for knowledge and won't shun "new" info. Be proactive and let her know that you expect certain things for her. If she gives you the side eye then......you know what to do.

lol....

This is what you call a red flag...

I'd educate her but she would not be doing my hair.

OP, let me rephrase your question – would you eat in an establishment if you heard the chef exclaim, “They want me to wash my hands BEFORE I cook?!”

Wellllll, how would you feel if you suggested to your surgeon that hand washing was the next best thing since sliced bread and he said, "Whaaaat?? Where they do that at?" You officially have succeeded her in hair knowledge. I'd go for styles and leave the caring for home.

Some stylist just don't know. When I had just started being a stylist, I did not know what all this stuff was. and I did some peoples hair just fine. Just because she does not know what the name or proper name is, does not mean he or she does not know what it is. like, I did not know what tyzillions or zillions was. Then someone told me it was small braids. I was like micro braids? Then she said yes. She may know what it is, just not what you call it.

It's a red flag. Just like the stylist who told me DC's weren't necessary :look:

You can always do it yourself though. And it'll save you some nickels.

Be Afraid...Be VERY Afraid lol

But yeah seriously...don't let her touch your hair without knowing the basics like protein/moisture balance. That would be hair suicide.

But I give you credit for at least recognizing that it might be a problem, many ppl would just allow them to do it anyway since they're a "stylist"
