So I finally tried NTM Silk Touch, and....

It just wasn't all that. I'm wondering if I did anything wrong. I put it on my dry hair right before wrapping it for bed. When I woke up and brushed out my wrap, my hair was dull dull dull. Like hay. And was flyaway city.

Now I know my hair normally loves cones, because I have a serum that I use regularly and it makes my hair look so shiny and happy. But I was just looking for something that would actually feed my hair, and not just make it "look" good.

Should I have sealed the NTM with an oil? (I hate putting oil in my hair but if thats what I gotta do, well....:perplexed)

Has anyone else had a so-so experience with NTM silk touch? If so, did u modify the way you used it?

Sylver2 please don't cuss me out!

i stopped using it when i noticed that it had sodium hydroxide (lye) in it. My hair always looked a little less kinky than usual when i used it.

Maybe your hair would respond better if you applied it while your hair was wet or damp.

My hair doesn't like NTM products. It's not for everyone which is why there are so many different hair products available. I had better luck with Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream which is now my leave-in staple. I apply it when my hair is wet. If my ends are feeling a little dry I apply a teeny amount to them without wetting them first. I don't seal with oil after using it. Even though it's a heavy cream it doesn't weigh my hair down. But, a little goes a long way. Surprisingly enough the Cetaphil has petrolatum and glycerin - the very ingredients I try to avoid or keep to a bare minimum. My hair loves it.

This made my hair stink, literally. I can't take the smell. I'm trying to figure out what it could be that made my hair smell when I added this. Not for me, smelled like fish.

I have tried it on dry, damp and wet hair. It hates me and I hate it. I gave up on it; I couldn't even doctor it up to make it useable.

Lots of folks rave about this....but I didn't like it at all....:perplexed

My love is Giovanni Direct Leave In.....:lick:

I got pretty much the same result from the Silk Touch Leave in--dull hair. I ended up trowing it away. Now the Healing Shine Serum is a whole different story. I love that stuff.

I have tried this product on both wet and damp hair, and I haven't been that impressed with it either. To use it up, I used it on dry hair with flexirods and I got nice soft curls.

Cetaphil makes hair products?

Same Here. I tried this mess twice and it didn't work out on my hair, never again. No 3 strikes here, lesson learned. :nono:

Yeah, a lot of people rave about Giovanni direct. I probably shouldn't jump on yet another bandwagon, but where can i get it? TIA

I'm gonna stop using it. It doesn't moisturize my hair as much as the S-Curl does and i use it on my wet hair. i can't stand for my hair to be dry (because it just looks nappy and unkept when it does and whole lot of other reasons).

besides, I'm a natural living kick anyway, my Giovanni direct leave in is on its way =)

HEY, I just bought it 2 weeks ago and experienced the same thing, I THOUGHT it was my Emu oil, I was like wow, DULL DULL DULL. It was soft but DULL. I hated it. I will use it but not repurchase it. Glad to know I wasn't going crazy.

Ha ha :lachen:thanks for not going off on me.

Yeah there are definitely lots of bandwagons to jump on around here. I gotta start tinking harder before I go out and buy the next great product

I'm assumming it left dull hair b/c it's a leave in conditioner and it doesn't contain any oils( I don't think). You should try sealing it in.

Didn't work for me either.I tried it on wet hair as a leave-in, Didn't work.So then I said maybe I'll try it as a moisturizer and seal it with oil.I When I took my hair down it was a dry mess. It's collecting dust under my sink.

I like it, but I found that my hair has to be in a certain state in order to get the full effect of it.
I am at the end of a bottle and I won't be purchasing it again.

I hate the way it smells too. I'd definitely describe the smell with the word fish.

Girl, these are my exact same sentiments. I can't get it to work well for my hair in any situation.

I bought some and I thought I just needed to keep trying. I mean, it DOES make my hair soft but I soooooo won't be purchasing again. Maybe I'll use it on my 9month dd's hair maybe.
Basically, I was disappointed. It's just OKAY.

Man, I am also sorry it did not work for you, i find when i do not use it my hair is dull... complete opposite, dont know if this changes things or not, but i usually seal with jojoba OR Whipper Baggy Cream (from HairVeda).... i hope that helps!!

Sorry it didn't work for you ladies.

My hair loves this stuff, but I only use it on wet hair and mixed in my spray bottle with water, for rollersetting.

I've never used on dry hair....:nono:

I thought sylver only used it on dry hair? I used it on dry hair and I liked it and I'm natural. I could see why she uses it to stretch. I put it on, smoothed it, and tied up my hair in a head scarf.I noticed when I combed it through it flaked but not then i smoothed it on with my fingers, and my hair dried shiny and moist.

I love my NTM, but I see what you (and the OP) are saying as far as the "dull" component. I use it to soften my hair and not necessarily give shine. I have only used it on wet hair.

When I rollerset, I usually mix about a quarter size amount with a drop or two of my Aveda Brilliant serum. The serum is what gives me the shine and slip.

If I am blowdrying, I just use the leave in and skip the serum until after I have styled to add shine.
