I don't get what is so difficult about rollersetting

I been doing that in clients heads since I was about 14/15 in my aunt's salon

I started doing relaxers on clients when I was about 18/19
I did them on her before though

I've only had my hair flatironed at a beauty school
turned out good but the new orleans humidty made it poof up in 3 hrs.....I was natural at the time too

Just chiming in as a former student who has worked in a Beauty School Clinic.
-Find out which days the "senior" students would be on the floor of the clinic/salon. That way you are insured that the students with more experience are doing your hair.
-at lease back when I was in school (a loooong time ago) we HAD to practice on each other. Usually on the days that we weren't on the floor of the clinic.
-At least at our school, our teachers watched over us like HAWKS and stepped in when something wasn't going right.
-If you don't feel comfortable at any time WALK out, it's no different than any other salon. If you aren't happy, then express it and don't let the service go further.
-When students are in beauty school, they are getting taught BASICS, that grandma rollerset is what passes or fails you on your cosmetology license exam. So some are doing just what they know. Again, others have more experience styling than others.

That's what I thought but boy was I wrong. He did it like he had never even practiced on any of the girls in school with him he really had no idea, as my hair started to dry he was still trying to roll it dry-like he didn't spray it with water-so the hair was obviously falling off.

I actually use to go to a beauty school to get my hair trimmed only because they take their time while trimming. A big plus was that they never use to get scissor happy with the scissors. My trims always came out so nice too, that was when I use to get layers, those were the days........
