I support Blk owned business already. I purchase hair stuff online from blk vendors that show me that they can be trusted and provide good CS. I also purchase from a local natural hair BSS that is blk owned so in case online vendors act up, I can get my goodies from there.

My oral surgeon is even blk.

*Sits*

I am allllll about black business. I go out of my way to support our own and I plan to continue doing so. Off to watch the video!

Nice idea. I'mma do one better and support my own black sista self by keeping my money in my pocket next month and the remainder of the year too. Shoot I got a baby on the way and he can't eat nor wear hair extensions or products. I kid, I kid....but not kidding about keeping my money in my pocket.

98% of my hair products come from online and I think the only lines I use that's not black owned is Elucence and Aphoghee, I think. I don't go to the BSS around here because 1) they don't carry what I use 2) I don't live close to any and 3) I question how long those products have been sitting on those shelves.

I need to get better at that. There's not a lot of black owned anything in my area so its a challenge at times, especially since I don't want to buy all of my hair products online...

I could compromise in some ways though.

I support our Sista's and do a great deal of business with BOB (Black Owned Businesses), so it probably won't be a huge problem for me.

Okay...Lemme go watch the Video......

I support as much as I can and not only hair products. I have had great experiences with black-owned businesses so it would make absolutely no sense for a few bad ones to deter me. It would be as silly as not buying from Nordstrom because of a bad experience at Macy.

I want to share the below correspondence for anyone who was considering purchasing from or reviewing for WOWAfrican.com "Best Hair for Africans"

WowAfrican: Would you like to do hair review for us?
ToniDaley: Are you based in China?
WowAfrican: Yes, shipping time is fast. 2-3 days only.
ToniDaley: You should know that your slogan "Best Hair for Africans" is quite offensive. You should consider hiring a black employee on your marketing team since your main client is black women.
WowAfrican: Our slogan "Best Hair for Africans" is because our main customers are black women. As I said the best hair for Africans is Virgin hair, high quality and tangle free, NOT what grows out of their heads.

Please share this with as many weave enthusiasts and hair reviewers as you can. There are too many black owned hair vendors out there for us to even consider giving them our money.

I have been doing this for a while with most of my hair stash and herbal/whole food supplements. I plan on doing it more with clothing/accessories as well in the near future! I currently have a list of over 100 hair-body-cosmetics vendors that are of african descent and its growing. My next lists will be herbal/wholefood supplements as well as holistic praticioners and clothing/accessories by our ppl.

MileHighDiva awesome. that's pretty cool. i wonder why they haven't expanded to other products and retail stores.

ETA: Oh I have to add Curl Junkie to my non-black owned list. Didn't know :perplexed

Neither did I. I thought I saw them on one of the black owned lists somewhere...

Interesting convo.

Is she anticipating the other non-black extension retailers would feel differently?

Where do I find the cosmetic vendors? I would loooove to purchase my cosmetics elsewhere than Walmart lol I live in a small town 2 hours away from Chicago.

I bought passion fruit seed oil the first time from a black owned business, but I can't remember the name. I believe they had other stuff as well. I have to go back over my records. They were a bit pricier than some vendors and cheaper than some vendors.
