Teacher cuts off first grader's braid, charged with disorderly conduct

I am SO angry as if she were my child. I give MOST teachers props because it is a gift that takes ALOT of patience they are second to parents and help to mold the child. It is a job that i could not do because i have very little patience( somthing that i am working on especially while driving) BUT children are innocent how anyone could do something to hurt them physically or emotionally is beyond me!!!!!

That teacher had the AUDACITY to cut off someone else' chile hair?!? I would have calmly rolled up to that school with a brand new pair of scissors ret' ta go and chopped off the whole front half of her hair and see how cute she feels.

She betta thank her lucky STARS she aint try this wit a LHCF member, if she had??!?!?!........wooo chile!!

That baby's hair is LONG too I dunno about the mothers hair but that baby's hair is well taken care of and nice probably takes her alot of effort and time to get her baby's hair done and looking nice not to mention get some length.

I just dont know whats going on these days. On the real though, I would have calmed down from my initial instincts and decided just how much I'm suing for, after they done traumatized my baby like that. She needs to be fired, what the heck are you working with little children for if you don't know how to address annoying behavior?

I've never been in one fight my entire life, they always called me miss sophisticated.

But if this ever happened to my baby, the Brooklyn would come outta me with a vengeance and that woman would get her very first big chop...TRUST.

They would not hear the last of me until this woman was banned from working with children and paid for my daughter to get her hair braided for the year and a half it would take for it to grow back in.

She had the AUDACITY to assume that the baby's hair was FAKE?!?!?!!? My oh my, I wonder why she assumes little black girls with long braids are wearing extensions.

OMG nah I would have to count to 10,000 not to straight molly wop this trick.

I woulda took her to court and would not stop till she would be paying for her to get her hair done for years and the therapy this child will need to trust and feel secure around authorties again. I would also take out a restraining order on that psycho so that its on her record that she's reckless and just in case cuz homegirl aint playin wit a full deck.

...... had the NERVE to claim "Oh I didnt know it was her REAL hair" way to add insult to injury.

That couldn't have been me. She woulda got an unscheduled big chop.

Update: I contacted the MPS Board as stated and was advised that the Board is taking disciplinary action against the teacher and requested I be patient while that process is underway. Let's see what happens then make a decision. I would advise you to contact an attorney in your area, although I am sure they will be coming to you just as I have. Please hug and kiss this beautiful young child repeatedly to offset the damage done by this imbecile.

Yes, BM, it would be lights out for this teacher if that were my daughter. I am still appalled at the audacity of this woman!erplexed

I don't understand the school system out there- if this is the kind of disciplinary measures this teacher took against a child, this would indicate an abberation in reasoning on the part of the teacher, as the educator; a mental instability. The fact that she is still teaching in the same class is beyond me.

Hopefully, the mother has the good sense to sue to the school district.

What she did was wrong...plain and simple. However, let's not pretend to be so outraged that she thought the kid had extension. Many little Black girls do have braid extensions and weaves, sadly. This stereotype is not as stereoptypical as some wanna pretend. Even so, she was bang outta order.

Unlike many, I'd not have thought to assault her back. My going to jail wouldn't help matters! Nope....law suit city.
