HELLO>>>>>>>>I wonder when someone will get the bright idea to bootleg the rollerset dvd.
I bet its in a BSS somewhere in the hood.
keep us posted...I'm going to join for a month, I'm curious.
I'll tell you all about it.
I'll join today.
Here's the thing though, even though I'm not a member of her site, people actually followed her. Which means they thought it was worth it to pay the price. I don't know why. People learn things from everywhere. That's like someone being disapointed with a lawyer for setting up practice after learning everything from lawschool. So what? She learned effective techniques and now feels the need to share her knowledge with people and have a website that perhaps profits her. I'm not saying we should all go out and join her site, but I'm happy that she has a business built on what she's cultivated. This is nothing new, many people have done that before her and it seems that she knows what she's doing (and others seem to think so), so why not start a business if you want to? Martha steward did lots of research before starting her business, trying different recipes, and perfecting them, and no one is upset with her for opening up shop. Why shouldn't we, if we have good ideas, or discovered a way, benefit from them if we want? I'm like more power to her, if people actually decided to follow her they must think it's worth it to do so or else they would not have. Just another spin on this.I was going to start a thread on this....dissapointed in her is how i feel.
She got most of her hair care knowledge on here for the grand price of 5dollars (she didnt renew her subscription afterwards) from ladies that give tips, videos and pictures for free...
but she has now taken some of our valued members to this exclusive new site where you have to pay 120 dollars a year and buy her videos to learn about hair care![]()
When it comes down to it. You can join every hair board out there and pay all the money. Your hair is not going to show progress unless you actually follow a healthy regimine.
I can get a consultation from the best of them but I have to put the time and energy in. No one is going to hold your hand through this process.
Plus, all the info you need is right here. And the creator was a member here giving advice. So what, has that info changed? I doubt it. (I loved my rollersetting DVD tho)
I'm not going to join because I'm on a natural journey and I can get plenty of advice here.
But for those who do decide to join, more power to you and happy hair growing.
AND... I believe this has already been discussed.![]()
Preach.I won't be joining but I'm not mad at her hustle or business acumen. There was a thread here years ago where she spoke about wanting to open up her own healthy hair salons after she got out of school. She has turned a blog into a business, good for her!
Clearly folks are interested in how she gets her hair they way it is, evidenced by how many PM's she got while she was here and by how many bought her rollersetting dvd. Why shouldn't she be paid for her time?

If you want some hand holding (nothing wrong with that) and a more personalized experience, then why not? I really think it's a good idea for people who don't want to do the legwork on their own. Lord knows there are lots of folks on here who love to ask questions about every little thing. That girl found a niche. As far as selling all the LHCF info at a higher price, again good idea. Shoo, someone prolly compiling all this info now to release into a book. All the info is free and not copy-written. May not be ethical by some standards, but I'm sure she isn't the only one who thought about it.
Nope! That takes away from my product money....
lol @ "fast gro kits and regimen"
Hmm...I'm in law school...and when you put it like that, it makes sense!!

I understand what your saying Lukiestdestiny but it would be different if it were licensed cosmetologists, I mean on here some of the moderators are licensed and legally. Business wise it makes a difference if you are licensed in a craft like hair, because if not it turns into a copy of this site, bhm and all the other hair blogs and websites out there.
I was thinking of doing a hair site, but after and if I would decide to go to cosmetology school. You want to make sure you have people giving you the right advice because this is something they have learned professionally not from doing their hair only at home or from reading hair websites. I am good at doing hair but i'm not advising no one or charging anyone anything for my unprofessional advice unlicensed advice. I liked her original site the way it was. She also has someone listed that is an at home hair care expert again no mention of a cosmetology license "at home hair care", meaning former lhcf member.
This annoys me because this is how people go to salons even and get jacked up, not all stylists are licensed either, if there license is not hanging at their booth or visible run! I don't use products that have been on the market for years either, if someones pot made hair stuff causes me to break out or my hair to fall out a couple of people will be coming up missing lol! for real.

your in school to learn your trade, she is making her sight different than lhcf because her site is supposed to have skilled expert advice. "expert" no one really states that they are licensed went to school for hair.
My only question is, how much service are you getting? Is there anything extra personal about it? Does she have a certain number of private emails you can have with her during that time? What are all the perks? Before we can decide if it's overcharging I think we'd have to actually know what we'd be getting for the price.

Although I understand your point, it is worth mentioning that not all licensed cosmetologists are knowledgeable about good hair care practices - many 'unlicensed' members on this forum know heck of a lot more about hair care than some stylists who have licenses hanging in their booths.
Moreover, a lot of products on the market that have been around for years are not necessarily the best or healthiest for hair (many of which are rightfully condemned on this forum), yet many stylists will still endorse them. There are members on this forum who make healthy, natural products that are good for hair, but haven't been on the market for long - they just simply understand the value of certain ingredients and their benefit to hair more than some 'professionals'.
