I haven't been doing massages at all because it felt weird and I would get sharp pains here and there. It has gone away the last month so I'm trying to do scalp massages daily.

Hey ladies it’s been 8 months. Here is my progress. Thinking about big chopping at the one year mark.

I actually thought of this thread this evening after seeing a lady whose hairline was approximately 2 .5 -3 inches back off her forehead. She had the remainder of her shoulder length hair pulled back in what appeared to be a "tight ponytail".

This board helped me take the plunge and I'm so grateful.

That's the exact reason I needed this surgery. I had WL hair and no edges. I never pulled my hair back but it was still bald lol.

Thank you ...Today my face is at peak swelling and I dont even look like myself ...I'll be glad when I look normal again. Thank God I dont have to go to work.

:lol: I just snuck the garbage out and moved my car praying no one would see me ...I swear they'd think I was abused. My eyelids are filled will fluid and I have serious bags under my eyes. Made it back in fine. Aint going out again this week. Thank God for Amazon Fresh.
 
I'm going to bite the bullet and get the procedure. I'll likely take a trip to Charlotte and go to that doctor that another member went to. I'm just concerned about how I can wear my hair after the procedure.

The doctors office called me today to confirm my appointment! I’m excited to finally be taking this plunge so that I can confidently wear my hair in certain styles. but also nervous/worried about how I’m going to wear my hair while I’m waiting for the hair to grow. Headbands and head wraps are about to be my look for a few months.

I also started taking hair vitamins. I wanted to get the vitamins in my system Before the procedure So hopefully that will help the transplanted hair grow faster.

I will for sure post my experience

I had my hair transplant procedure today. I actually ended up doing the shaveless FUE instead of the FUT.

The good: the procedure was pretty painless. I was texting, watching movies and conversing with the ladies who were working on my scalp.

The bad: the numbing of my scalp was very painful. They definitely tangled up my hair when they were pulling the follicles out of the back of my head. Also, the surgeon who did my consultation wasn't the person who did my surgery. But I wasn't too bothered by that because the other surgeon told me I was in good hands

ETA: I have to have another procedure so I'll provide more details when they finish it. I had to delete some of the post

Yay!! You did it. I'm sorry this happened. Are they going to do the procedure again to finish?
 
Okay so it’s been two days since the procedure. I’m not in any pain however my hairline and the back of my head where they pulled the follicles from is starting to itch. I was told anytime I experience itching to use my saline spray.

I have to sleep on my back and they gave me a medical pillow cover so that I don’t get blood on my pillow. I’m still seeing a little bit of blood but it’s not excessive or anything I’m concerned about.

I’m experiencing some light throbbing on the back of my head but it’s nothing I’m worried about. It comes and goes.

My head is swollen. I look like the alien emoji on the iPhone lol. But I’ve been icing it.

I go back to the office tomorrow because they’re going to rinse my grafts and wash the back of my hair.
 
@BrownSkinPoppin, happy to hear you are doing well after the procedure. They clearly missed an area so it's disappointing to hear that they did not say anything to you. But happy to hear it will be resolved. I hope all goes well with your recovery.
 
Has anyone had any experience or heard anything from reliable sources about transplant specialists operating in LA/Southern California? My hair has finally thickened up and is growing well again except my edges, which remain AWOL.
 
Okay I'm here with my update!

I went to Hair Restoration Specialists in Atlanta. I live in Atlanta so I didn't have to travel.

The finished adding the grafts to the sparse areas and I've gone through the entire post op process so now I'm just waiting for hair growth. Since my hair was already shaved they didn't shave anymore of my hair for the second procedure.

Would I recommend them based on my experience so far? At first my answer was yes because they did do their part to make things right. But now I'm not sure.

1. They ran out of grafts and DID NOT TELL ME. I didn't know they didn't finish they job until I got home and took the cap off because they told me not to sleep in the cap. The lack of communication was 1000% unacceptable so based on that alone I wouldn't recommend them.

2. When I went in the office to discuss my concerns about my incomplete procedure the clinical director wasn't compassionate and didn't accept responsibility for anything. I asked him if they ran out of grafts and he said "no" so I asked why doesn't my entire hairline have grafts and he said "I don't know"

Y'all. I lost it. WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T KNOW? YOU KNEW I WAS COMING IN TO DISCUSS THIS SO YOU SHOULD'VE DONE YOUR PART TO GET ANSWERS FROM THE SURGICAL TEAM. DID YOU THINK I WOULDN'T COME IN HERE TRYING TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS?

So once he realized I wasn't accepting his apathetic attitude he changed his tune and immediately started discussing how they could fix it.

3. The surgical team left my hair terribly tangled after the first procedure. It was a a nightmare. I detangled most of it myself but I left a section tangled so they could see what they did to my hair. I asked the clinical director if someone could untangle the last section for me (a lot of black women work there) and he literally told me I should pay my beautician to do it. I was a lot calmer at this point in our conversation so I calmly told him that I would not be doing that and he needed to get someone to detangle my hair...which he did and she did a great job.

I'll say this. I'm a sweet girl who doesn't like to ruffle feathers unless I absolutely have to. I'm not sure if they took my kindness for weakness but when they saw I wasn't playing around they got their act together and did EVERYTHING they could to stay in my good graces.

My 2nd procedure was phenomenal because they didn't want to hear my mouth, as we like to say.

My hairline will come out beautifully. I'm speaking it into existence. But they could really use some pointers on how to run their office.

I paid $5000 total. They didn't charge me anything extra for the 2nd procedure.

I'm having issues uploading all of my pictures so only three attached. The pictures with my eyes blacked out were taken on day 2 of my first procedure. The other photo was taken on day 1 of my 2nd procedure when I they added the rest of the grafts. They did fill in the sparse areas on both sides. I just cant attach the other photo at the moment.

I'll continue updating the thread as the weeks progress. I'm so ready for these scabs to fall off but I know I have to be patient :-)

I was hoping to get a transplant but when I had my consult the physician didn’t recommend it since my biopsy showed I had CCA. He claimed it more than likely wi fail.

I start my PRP treatments hopefully in a couple of weeks. I also purchased a laser cap and see my hairline filling in but not the crown area.
