Is there a such thing as too much product in the hair that may retard the relaxer from taking? Especially on virgin hair.

Should one wash out all the product and wait a few days before doing a relaxer or is it okay to relax over a head full of product?

Yes...putting conditioner or oil on NG or having a buildup of cones will affect the way the relaxer processes the hair.

Whether you choose to wash prior to relaxing will depend on how much product you have in your hair and what the desired effects of relaxing are. If you want bone straight hair, I'd wash, wait 5 days - go easy on the products, then relax. However, if you're looking to texlax, having product in your hair may work to your advantage in not getting the hair too straight. It can also be an advantage if you want bone straight hair and need a lot of time to apply it and smooth it.
