Vatika oil instead of coconut oil as a daily moisturizer?

How's it working for you?

I know alot of ladies using EVCO as a daily moisturizer. Would you consider Vatika oil as a type of coconut oil and do you/would you use it as a daily moisturizer?

Vatika oil is more affordable, but it has it's own smell AND other ingredients.

I Vatika oil. It makes my hair super soft, shiny, lays down ng, makes my hair strong and smells good. What else could I ask for???

I was using it to seal everyday, not sure why I stopped. I use it on my sons hair and his hair is very healthy from it.

I think with vatika you can use it to seal or moisturize. Vatika contains ingredients that penetrate the hair shaft so i dont see why you couldnt use it as a moisturizer. IMO i prefer water as a moisturizer or a butter. I still cant get diggity down with using oil as a moisturizer.

I agree that water is the best moisturizer, but I'm natural. Using water everyday wouldn't work. Guess I'll stick with coconut oil and/or Nourish and Shine as my daily moisturizers.

I use both... they have great benefits...

I have 3 something hair so when I use it I have to be very light-handed or else it'll weigh my hair down. I'm in progress of transitioning so it's marvelous on the NG .

I use them pretty interchangeably, though Vatika does get my hair softer. The scent take a little adjustment. I always add it to my henna now sometimes to my dc, and I sometimes apply it directly to my scalp and hair.

I use both of them... vakita for the scalp and coconut oil to seal. Sometimes I just combine them but either way as long as you cowash at least once a week you should be fine to avoid the build up.

I purchased EVCO from Whole Foods last night. It's a bit pricey, but it's fragrance free. Decided that I'll use my vatika oil as a prepoo and coconut oil as a daily moisturizer. IDK, I'll fit it in somewhere.

In all honesty that's one of the reasons I tried it. I can't remember if I read it here or on BHM, could have been both, about growth. I do feel like it has helped with growth but I can't say how much now since I'm doing other things as well. I did feel like it was helping my hair grow and get stronger when I was using it alone. I kicked mine up a notch and infused it with powders it didn't contain like Bhringraj, Fenugreek, and Shikakai. I call it my Vatika Cocktail. I use it to prepoo before Ayurvedic treatments,

Vatika Oil is enriched coconut oil - so it has all the same abilities and properties of coconut oil, plus the abilities and properties of its additional ingredients.

Just as coconut oil is a moisturizer/nourisher I use Vatika Oil the same way. I typically wouldn't seal my natural hair with either unless it was in braids or twists. When my hair is out I follow up with a bit of castor oil, or something just a little heavier for the ends.

I'm calling it a "nourisher" b/c I don't think coconut or any other penetrating oil provides moisture in the traditional sense, but the vitamins and nutrients in the oil are able to penetrate the hair strands due to the size of the molecules. This means that hair will be supple, shiny, and healthy but not "moisturized" in the way we associate with water based leave ins. I always add oils onto damp hair unless it's been flat ironed.

I would stick with the EVCO. I have both but Vatika doesn't outweigh EVCO.

OT: There was a lady in Whole Foods a few days ago with the most beautiful tail bone length hair I have even seen IRL. I asked her what was she doing to her hair. You wanna know what she? you guessed it, EVCO.

My focus is on my ends right now. Soliel185, I like the idea of vatika oil being a nourisher. Guess I'll settle for nourished hair right now. Can't go wrong with either. I'll use them interchangeably. I prefer castor oil, but it's too heavy to apply daily.

Maybe mix a few drops of vatika oil into your castor oil to thin it out? Then you can have both.

I bought mine today at a local indian store. I also got a bottle of the Vatika Olive oil too and it smells lovely.

I'm always switching up my sealer. I use VCO, VO, and CO and now JBCO. I like VCO for braids/twists since its light and smells good and helps to reduce frizz . I like VO for my Pre-poo and as a sealer too but the extra stuff was making my hair a little to strong and I was having to up my moisturizers to keep a nice balance. My twists got frizzie faster when I was using VO to seal (doesn't make sense). I like the fresh citrus smell of VO. I like CO and JBCO to seal my WNGs or use to baggy over night since my hair is out.

I think they all have their place and you just have to figure out a system that works for you. I like to rotate and to have variety. Plus it makes my products last longer.

I tried to use Dabur Vatika oil as a nightly sealant. I gagged every time I inhaled because of its God Awful smell. Even after I added peppermint EO it still stank. I eventually threw it out. Now Vatika frosting on the other hand, if I could bathe in it I would.
EVCO is the ultimate solution for my sealing, hot oil treating, over night prepooing, and even skin care needs.
