Okay, now I've seen posts on here where people have seen people out in public with various hair "accessories" on their heads so when I saw this lady in walmart today I thought of you ladies. I've gone out with conditioner on my head a few times when I had no choice but no one knew it but me because I'd conceal it. This lady had a clear baggie on her head and I did a double take as I walked past her because it smelled like she had a vigorol marinating in her hair too. Once you've had a vigorol you never forget the smell.

How could you go around smelling like THAT!?!!

For people who haven't smelled vigorol, it's so bad that I would rather bathe in aphogee 2 step treatment!

It may be before your time. I'm 39 and I remember my mother using this on me and my sisters hair and it stank for days! If I remember correctly my mom let it sit on our hair too before washing it out. I didn't know then that it was a liquid relaxer. You press your hair afterwards.

No, you're get touchups.

I didn't know it was a relaxer either. The hairdresser would give me root to tip touchups... that plus the hard presses she would give me made my hair bone straight.

The only time in my life it was straight but is was very overprocessed and messed up.

Not many people, but the putrid stuff was used on me by an old school stylist.

She only broke out the vigorol for "hard" hair

It costs like 4 dollars.

Some people are stuck to their old ways/not knowledgeable about hair care I guess.

I had noooo idea it was a relaxer, I would not have used it if I knew. It foams up like a shampoo...

Who knows, it may work for some people.

I guess you're SUPPOSED to carefully apply it to the roots. I've shampooed just my roots before, I guess it's doable.

It's not supposed to get your hair straight, it's more like a weak relaxer/texturizer.

but yeah, this lady would just lather up the whole head every time. AND charge $15 for it

If you have coarse/thick hair, it'd come out silkier and be easier to press relaxed.

I guess it really doesn't matter. Its not like I'm going out to buy some of this stuff.

She was also slick and didn't tell me what it was. Since I was ignorant of good hair practices, I just believed what she told me. It didn't seem like a relaxer since it lathered up, so how in the world was I supposed to know?

She just told me it's a treatment to make my hair softer. Charged $15 for it too.

yeah. I'm tempted to go in there and swang my hair in that bishes face... she made sure to keep my hair ear length and unhealthy and have me coming back for more (cha-ching$$) but no, I'm above that. lol

If I remember correctly the maximum amount of time to leave it on is 20 minutes. Nah, I don't think it's safe to go out and shop while it's on your head. For her or the people catching strong whiffs of it. I had flashbacks of getting my ears and neck burned from my mom's pressing comb.

That is horrible, thank God no one has ever used it on me. Like two years ago, some stylist I had when i was in the caribbean said that she had to do a root to tip relaxer for me, coz my hair was not bone straight, and I was so shocked, I just told her that I just want my hair to be more manageable, whenever I want it bone straight, i can get a flat iron!

Oooh chile, I remember the Vigorol! And you're right, just looking at the picture of the box brought back the smell! I remember putting some on my hair and then wondering why my edges all broke off!
