Weavologists- Hair that doesn't Tangle or Shed Excessively? Does it exist?

I am currently 3 weeks into an install and am DYING to take it out. I swear I have shed at least 4 oz of this hair. Everywhere I go I am leaving hair behind. erplexed I currently have Natural Esthetic's Kinky Wavy installed and . If this hair didn't have so much volume I swear I'd look bald right now.

I started a weave tracker thread a while back here that pretty much crashed and burned. But I do have a lot of names now, just not many reviews.

I am already thinking of my next hair purchase and I want it to be a good investment. Apart from Extensions-Plus, which my pockets can't QUITE manage right now, what are some good brands? I would like to be able to re-use if possible. I am looking for some investment hair (yes it's that serious )

I've been eying the Indique hair in Bounce Relaxed Straight or Pure Curly. I have also been stalking Halley's Curls which is a big favourite here. The only thing I'm not sure about with Halley's Curls is how the hair holds up (tangling, shedding etc.).

I know there are a bunch of weavalogists (I see you Weave Challengers!) on LHCF that can help me.

I use Extensions Plus....its a bit expensive but def worth it. They should ship to Canada...

I have heard of sealing the wefts but I have no idea where to find the product to do it. I'm in Calgary, so there is a scarcity of black products here. I was considering Indique, glad to know that it's a good brand.

Copy and pasting information for you guys..not my words, but research I have come across


what you will need: hair, weft sealer, small applicator bottle

the squirt bottle gives a lot more control, just run it along the length of the weft, applying it directly to the weft material....in this pic ive worked too slowly and some of the sealer runs down into the hair (move down the length of the weft quickly to avoid that, it makes that bit of hair very stiff)

flip the weft over and do the other side, sherries sealer comes with a little nailpolish-type brush but after about 30seconds of that i realized i would be too impatient for that and put it in the squeeze bottle

after you get both sides of the weft saturated, hang it up to dry, i did mine outside because it was pretty out and the weft sealer does have a super-strong odor



i left it for about a half hour, when i came back all was dry, and i gave it the aggressive-brushing test with my round bristle brush......not a loose hair in sight YAY me!

now before some smartie pants says 'why dont you just buy hair that doesnt shed?', this is hair that i had anyway and i WANT to make it work....i also think sealing wefts is a good preventative strategy to making the wefts last longer




if you are experimenting and wanna use fray-block, its sold in the craft/sewing department of wal mart and looks like this:

Weft sealing is applying a sealant to the weft to prevent shedding. Most sealants can be purchased in your local craft store and are used for on fabrics to prevent fraying. The most popular brands that we have tested and approved of are Aleene’s Stop Fraying and June Tailor’s Fray Block. Aleene’s Stop Fraying appear white when wet but dries clear, this product is also thicker so use lightly and spread in thin even layers. June Tailor’s Fray Block has a thinner consistency like nail glue it goes on clear and dries clear but not hard. This product is thin and can run easily. However there are many other brands out there that we have not tested, you can choose what you feel comfortable with.

Wash, condition, and dry hair before you start sealing, because some sealants take 1-3 hours to completely dry but 5 days to cure. Once the sealant is dry the hair be installed using your favorite method. Do not wash before the sealant had cured follow the directions included with the sealer.


Sealing with Aleenes STOP FRAY

Start at the beggining of the weft

Apply the product lightly and spread in thin even layers.

Continue until you reach the end of the weft.

Repeat on the other side if necessary

Great info lawyer2be371. It's important that you seal the wefts on hair which will minimize shedding. Also make sure your stylists sews AROUND the weft instead of THROUGH IT.

Also if they can dont cut the wefts, when they do they install....its a lot of work and a lot of times the shedding can be prevented with a good sealant....as well as some hair doesnt like a lot of products indique hair doesnt take a lot of product, even though I wanted to use my tresemme curls products, a little water with glyercin thats all it took....lol

Super Remi handtied weave from www.superhairfactory.com (they have great prices on that type of hair and lots of sales). Yes, it is expensive, but it will last and not shed for over a year. It is cheaper than getting BBS hair and replacing it over and over. They also have a tangle-free guarantee for the first 3 months. I'm pretty sure I've read testimonials from all over the world, but I can't seem to find them now...

so you like it.. i was considering asking here... certain events at bhm have prevented me from asking there....

i know i am not supposed to be getting any more weaves due to a thinning issue.. but lord knows im tired of doing my hair

idk if they ship to canada but have u considered indianhair.net? i just ordered 2 bundles (8 oz.) of 10 & 12 inch wavy hair & it is very soft & pretty. there r plenty of reviews for it on bhm (some mixed reviews as well).

anyway the price was right so i bought it...have not installed yet...hth

I can't stress enough that Indique has the best hair! I've used the pure curly and the bounce relaxed texture...I love the relaxed texture; can be installed back to back, time after time; and I don't seal it. Not a fan of EPRT(way to kinky).
