If these heat protectants were in your stash, which combination would you choose for:

1. Blow out

2. Flat iron

3. Silk press

For today, I've whittled it down to these....

I'm going to blow out my hair and potentially flat iron.

I'm thinking Frizz Me Not with maybe a little of the It's a 10 for the blow out, and either the Olaplex N°9 or the CHI Silk Infusion if I decide to flat iron. I'd also probably try the Amika The Shield as a finishing spray.

Im for the Amika products! I haven’t been disappointed yet!
I've got a few Amika products but I've only just started using them today. I'm awaiting delivery on 3 more of their products, the frizz shampoo and conditioner, and the Super Fruit Star oil. I have a sample of the oil, I've not tried it yet but decided to buy the full size, first because it was reduced in a closing down sale and then because I think I'll like it. I've been slowly gravitating towards the Amika brand for over a year. I've always strongly felt like their products will work for me, there's a few brands I feel that kind of supernatural pull towards, I'm working my way through them.

So far the first 2 I've really liked, the third I used spontaneously just to see what would happen so I know I can't comment on that until I use it properly. I'm excited for the shampoo and conditioner to arrive, I'm looking forward to using them all together.

I always use chi silk infusion when doing blow outs, flat ironing, and silk pressing. As far as when to use it in a combo, I add it last before using my heat tool.

I have used It's a 10 Silk for blow drying and flat ironing with good results. I would be cautious with using it for a silk press bc it can weigh the hair down if you use too much or are heavy handed with it. You have to spray it very lightly when silk pressing. I tend to stick with liquid leave ins vs lotiony leave ins for silk presses.

The It's a 10 serum should be with me by Wednesday, along with my Amika frizz control shampoo and conditioner. I will be sure to use it in smaller amounts, thank you. I have seen so many great reviews about it, I'm looking forward to trying them out with the other Amika products to see what happens. I've heard that the CHI silk infusion can become heavy on the hair if too much is so I'll be light handed.

Ok sounds good. Keep us posted on your results!

The Chi and It's a 10 silk are both great products. Chi silk infusion is a staple, my hair loves that stuff.

I've never actually had a problem with Chi getting heavy on my hair. (But I am light handed with product application in general). The only time it feels heavy is when I don't get my prep right by either not clarifying, or using products that are too heavy for heat styling.

Thank you, you've just reminded me to make sure I clarify on the day I do my hair for this ball. I might have forgotten as I usually clarify once a month.

So far so good. This was my hair today when I took out the rollers.

It's not helpful that I'm wearing a dark top, but you might see it better if you zoom in.

ETA: I took another pic with a lighter coloured top on.

I'm about to flat iron my hair, @Angel of the North.

I think I'll use every product here but the last. I wanted to like it, but it left my hair sticky.

Firstly, I love the way your colour comes out when you straighten your hair. ❤️

I've never tried K18 products, for some reason they're not appealing to me, I feel the same way about Olaplex, but I did get a few travel sized items in one of my recent hauls.

I'm yet to try thr Color Wow dream coat, I have all 3, I'm likely to gift the regular strength one to a friend it'll better suit. I too am expecting stickiness, which is not what I need right now lol.

I can't wait to see your hair when you finish.

I seem to keep finding heat protectants in my stash, I actually cannon believe how many I have, I usually only keep 1 spray and 1 serum.

I got the Amika Superfruit Star as lightweight oil, it's also a heat protectant, I found a Bondi Boost heat protectant and I recently purchased the It's a 10 styling serum.

I will be switching it up a bit this week. I will use the Amika Hydra Rush, Frizz Me Not and the shield to blow dry, then I will go in with the It's a 10 serum for the irons, which I'll follow with the Superfruit Star to finish. I think I will use GHDs on one side and the Tymo Flipro on the other to compare.

Today I straightened my hair, this is the combination used this week:

The results are slightly better than last week but still not up to a silk press. Between this and my ends, I may need to revisit the hairstyle for Friday, straightening is an easy option to do but not if it doesn't look straight enough.

This is what it looked like when I finished:

There's still a lot of texture to my hair and it almost looks fly-away or static.
