I have natural hair. I don't use heat and I've currently been using all natural products. I HATE my hair color, it's so dull and I want black hair again but I really don't want to damage my hair at all. Soooo, I was looking at GlossyxLipz fotki and saw she used Bigen to get her hair a gorgeous black last year. I looked it up and it seems like it might be okay.

Ingredients:
Hoyu Brand. Contains no Ammonia. Designed to cover gray hair or enhance natural color without lifting. Very gentle to your hair. Recommended for Men and Women. Made in Japan. Ingredients: sodim perborate, cellulose gum, P-Phenylenendiamine sulfate, m-aminophenol, sodium carbonate, disodium lauryl sulfosuccinate, magnesium stearate, fragrance, O-Aminophenol, P-Aminophenol.

Does anything about the ingredients send off warning signs? I really DON't even want to slightly damage my hair or risk it, but i really want black hair again. Anyone know anything about it?

I haven't used it but I've heard that it makes your hair dry. And that it's almost impossible to get out should you want to change your hair color later on. I've heard good things about Textures and Tones though.

Going natural I have been using Bigen for years now as it was recommended by a hair stylist when I complained that I had tried so many hair colorants that didn't work for me. I absolutely love it and if I cannot find it I usually buy Kiss another hair color in the box that you just add water to like Bigen. Bigen covers my gray and lasts like no other. I usually buy the blue black color for that rich black coloring. I have even left it in longer than normal and have had no problems, but of course I deep condition with a good moisturizer afterwards because most colorants tend to dry your hair out. I also use revlons porosity treatment and hair conditioner to help stop the process and level out my hair ph afterwards. I have tried Jazzings, Revlon, and Clairol Beautiful Browns, and nothing lasts longer or keep my color longer than Bigen.

i know that my scalp was a scaley sore mess for a while after i used Bigen... i know that no less than a month after i used it, my hair was no longer the blue black that the Bigen was supposed to deposit...

'twas a waste for me...

Yes, the PPD (P-Phenylenendiamine)... Google it. I used the color once and fell in love with it, but once I read about the PPD, I stopped. Some people have used it for years and never had a reaction, others have used it once and got an allergic reaction, others still have used it for years then developed allergic reactions.

I'm still looking for a black color as rich as Bigen. It just wasn't worth the risk to me.

Thanks guys. After searching the board and the web I think I'm going to stay away. I don't even want the minimal risk of dry hair and having to do extra to bring back the moisture. My regime has been so simple it made me lazy! I guess I will reach my hair goals before i even think about color. thank you again!

I used it once with no adverse effects. I did a dc afterward. After reading more about it I decided not to color again using Bigen. Too many scary possibilities.

I have used it about 18 months now or a little more. I used regular drugstore color prior to using the Bigen. I use the oriental black. It dried my hair out terribly the first time I used it, but not thereafter probably because I only apply it to the gray in my hairline with an application brush and not all over. I use it every three to four months. I love the way it colors and it has never even remotely faded on me. I am looking for an alternative to it, though, because I am not liking some of the things I have been hearing and reading about it lately. Also, it gave me a headache the last time I used it. I am going to check out the Surya black henna cream I think.
