colour treatment before putting in braids? I am thinking of the colouir rinse as a protecting (as it coats) them hair strands. What do you think?

i think your better off with a strong protein treatment. it's no good if it coats the hair but doesn't strenghten it. you could do both. the protein treatment then the colour.

Oh yes of course, I was not going to do without my protein treatment. It was just thinking that a colour rinse after might give some added protection.

The last time i weaved i put on sebastian colourshines clear before and it did protect my hair. when i took down the weave after 6 weeks and only washing once, it was as if i never weaved it!

oh i did do a series of protein treatments b4.

thank you girls for your responses.

Wow NYCchild 'didn't even need a trim' after six weeks of wearing a weave? That's impressive.

I did that before. I have brown hair, but wanted black braids so I rinsed my hair black first. When I took out my braids. I was less tangly and it wasn't weak.

I got my hair braided today and thought about doing a color before but then didn't. I wanted to do a protein treatment also before I got the braids, but alas did not. Has anyone ever done a color rinse with braids in. I have a skunk streak right up the middle of my head, it's sexy when it's straight....well maybe sexy isn't the right word. Mysterious is better. At any rate I'm think about doing the rinse later in the week. The braids are synthetic not human.
