What one thing (deep conditioning, daily moisturizing, vitamins, etc) has resulted in the most immediate and positive improvement in your hair? If it's a product please share.

For me, it's clarifying. The water in Texas has more calcium than milk. :ohwell: I knew about clarifying before I officially started on my hair care journey, but I didn't do it regularly. Now it's like a religion.

Sereca I viewed your album yesterday and was unable to post a comment , but  your hair!! has grown beautifully ;) . I am C&G'ing too and that is part of my response.

I know you said 1 thing, but because I am doing a few things that I had not been doing before, I list them all.

1. I know that C&G is making a HUGE difference, I am believer.
2. Bagging
3. Surging and MTGing while in braids is excellent, basically keeping it moisturized.

4. Deep Conditioning with every wash is important even in braids.
5. VITAMINS!! got have um!

Using Purified Water to rinse shampoo and cond from my hair.:D :D

I bought Sally's ION hard water poo and cond and rinsed with purified water my hair has never been this soft when it's wet in my life!!!
Who knew something as simple as water could make such a big difference.
I have bought product after product hoping for a change for the better in my hair when all this time I should've tried using a diff source of water!!

Thanks LHCF

Talk about busting the budget.
I'm now going to have to buy a case of water from the supermarket and keep it in my bedroom or something.

I did a baggie overnight last night with Humectress and CANTU breakcure.
My hair felt beautiful this morning. I just rinsed, applied MTG mix and some more breakcure and Surge Moisture Aide. Bunned it up, flipped on my instant weave and bounced.

My hair feels so much stronger from the extra amount of moisture.
I think I will clarify this weekend, and do an ORS REplenishing pak all day treatment on saturday.

Using purified water is a great idea. I really should start doing that again.

ION is the truth. My hair had already gotten much better from the other stuff (crown and glory, MSM, Nexxus, Jane Carter), but nothing makes it as soft as taking the product buildup and hard water off. NOTHING. It's like different hair.

There was a hard water map for the US floating around here a few months ago. Texas was in the red.

Thanks. I love me some C&G too. Sorry about the album, for someone that works in the computer industry you'd think I'd get the album thing right. You're the third person to tell me they couldn't post. I probably just didn't set it for anonymous posting. I'll fix it. I love comments.

I knew listing only one thing was going to hard for folks around here, but 5. Come on, you're not even trying...:lachen:

what's made the most difference for me is moisture. before i would not put anything in my hair after i dryed it. no oil, oil sheen, grease, nothing. now i do and my hair is so much softer and has more elasticity.

What do you use to clarify your hair?

My one thing is NO HEAT. Everything else I do helps to pomote healthier hair, but eliminating heat was the single most important thing that caused a dramatic and visibly positive turnaround in my hair -- after a couple of weeks of washing without heat, I could see, touch and feel the difference . . .

In the summer time my hair grows by leaps and bounds when I CW and go (2 to 3xs a week). Also only applying heat when I go to the salon but I'm starting to think even once a month is too much.

I cannot even answer this question there are many things that have recently made a difference.

-I have noticed a natural sheen in my hair since i've been doing prepoo treatments.

-cwashing has has completely altered my texture is a few ways...

-finding and mixing the right hair products has helped me with styling

-using heat when only absolutely cant take it anymore (because i am a former heat addict)

Sarecaaaaaaaaaa! Your hair is so lovely!!! ok for me if i had to say one thing hum thats hard i would say and i m cheating haha introducing vitamins while keeping my hair braided in a baggy, moisturized with mtg and oils and saying no to poo (when possible) has resulted in thicker, shinier and softer hair.:lachen:  :D :p
ok if just one thing i would say cowashes then

Nice avatar, ekomba. You look great.

Moisturizing the ends (almost) daily has made the biggest difference for me.

For me Lenzi's Request Hair Growth Stimulator!

I've been using this products since May 05. My length was at my nape. I've been using this product and I also take biotin every blue moon. My hair has grown like never before. I have had 3 hair cuts since I began using this products the first hair cut I had about 2.5 inches cut off because my ends were unhealthy. the second time I had about 2 inches cut off and then just last month I had 1.5 inches cut because my hair is thin and I want it to look thicker. I would have been past bra strap if I would use it like she has directed and if I hadn't been cutting it so often. My hair is between my shoulder blades about 2.5 inches from bra strap.

The way I use it is I grease and message my scalp with it. Then I brush my hair up in a ponytail and put a really good smelling conditioner on my length and leave it in, to mask the smell. Sometimes I go without using it for weeks. Also if I used it like directed then I would definetly have to get a touch up every 3 weeks.

I think I am going to start using it again soon so I can be at bra strap by June. (fling, fling)

Here's me right now...

PJ: oooooh, where'd you get that?
Sane person: Don't tell her.

:wacky:

For me--on my 2 1/2 month hair journey--the best way to say "one thing" is learning that water is my hair's best friend. :yay:

I went from washing my hair once every 2 or 3 weeks to 2xs a week. I put my hair dryer away so the water will stay on my hair longer as it air dries. And I don't use my shower cap anymore; I just put my hair up in a clip and let it get misted while I shower.

Ask me this question in a few more months, and I'll have a different answer... :)

I hear you on the Hard Water thing! I posted a few months ago about the difference I noticed when i washed my hair at home as opposed to the hard stuff at my school... it was a totally different head of hair!!!

My one thing would have to be NO HEAT though. I can't even say enough about it... Eliminating heat has allowed me to retain way more moisture, reduced split ends and breakage to the point where I can stretch trims out for months. It is really the most important thing I've found in retaining my length.

Protein treatments has made the most difference in my hair care. Before then I would deep condition when I washed my hair and oil my scalp and hair, but never really thought about protein being an essential element for our hair. So actually I have to add another, which is re-educating myself about proper hair care.

wow, this is a great idea!!!! I will do this w/my next wash......thanks for posting it!

My one thing was letting go of weaves, braids and extensions.

My hair is so much better now that it is getting regular bi-weekly TLC w/o the stress of weave or braids.

And to think I was so terrified to let them go!!! I am so glad that I got the courage to do it.

I was wearing them for so long I never realized the potential my own hair has to be pretty.
