What's the Difference Between Lye and No Lye relaxers?

When you ladies switch to lye, do you just put it in the new growth only or do you coat the rest of the hair for like thirty seconds/a minute?

When I switched to lye, I put it only on the new growth. Don't forget to follow it with a protein treatment (if your hair likes that sort of thing), porosity controller, and finally DC.

I have been using no-lye relaxers all of my relaxed hair life. When I go to my stylist she usually puts design or mizini (spelling incorrect) in my hair. After reading this thread I am considering using a lye relaxer next time. Could anyone provide me with a good lye relaxer brand, so I can have stylist use next time. Oh also, my hair is currently 19 weeks stretched.
