So I was wondering, we are all doing different things to increase our growth potential for any given month but what's the maximum that our hair can grow in any given month?

Really what's the point of using the growth aids, ayurveda, egg shakes, chlorella, gelatin, msm, biotin, etc if the max we can get is 2" of new growth per month?

Please weigh in, what's the most you have ever gotten in a month and what were you using? What's the most you have seen posted on LHCF or any other forum?

TIA

I've seen 1.25 from Biotin. The most I've seen that a girl claimed 1 3/4 inch from some GA. LOL I don't know if my scalp could handle more than 2 inches a month. It would probably throb and hurt like hell.

But if I found something that could get me 2 inches a month....I'd be APL in 1 1/2 months, BSL in 2 1/2 months and MBL by the end of the year......

Hmm...

The maximum depends on the person. I don't know if there's a scientific upper limit. Half an inch per month is average so I'm sure there are people who get more.

I've seen lots of growth rates posted here and everywhere else, and I've rarely seen any convincing proof that the growth actually happened, was sustained over a period of time, or that it was any more than "normal" growth for that person.

I don't use growth aids and I never will, but that's just me. I don't believe the hype.

I've been on the board almost 4 years and I've never seen anything more than 1/2 to 3/4 inch.

I've seen people claim 2 inches, but what i saw was 1/2 to 3/4 inch.

:perplexed

I don't know if we know the potential in the age of fast food, processed foods, etc. I think the "average" takes those things into account. I think our limit may be way more than we think it is.

I know I've consistently maintained between .75 to over 1 inch just eating right and drinking nettle tea (and nettle rinse) since October. So I KNOW anything is possible because I used to get .25 to .50 Now I'm trying something new and hoping to up that rate.

Although 2" a month isn't anything to laugh at, it would be wonderful to get that much.

:yep::yep::yep::yep::yep: to everything, especially the bolded.

I voted for 2" because I know for a fact thats what my Korean best friend gets every month. Her hair is just gorgeous. So I know that is "humanly possible" but I just wonder about the rest of us, how far can we push our potential in any given month? Maintaining that rate is a whole different poll/thread.

My bangs hair went from pic One Oct 19 to Pic 3 Nov 14th. They needed to be cut but I didn't cut them until after Nov so that I could have a perfect measure for growth.

Pic 2 is just a pic of Oct 24th The fourth one is just a whole measure for the Oct 24th if you click it it should say the date. I had my hands up to try to get them out of the way. the longest part on the right side almost, but did not touch my bottom top lip. It was about over an inch. I was in the middle of flat ironing my hair as I'm natural, and I was tired, it wasn't completely done yet, but I wanted to take those pics.

Anyways. I have been braided up sense then so I haven't continued documenting and I had to hold my hair straight as it is only flat ironed and I wanted it to show up in the pic. But by Dec when I measured I was just over an inch past MBL. In Sept I was above bsl.

Fyi my lips are a full inch when you measure the top and bottom, and this was just when I just started nettle tea. I got that growth in 25 days.

This was the growth in between my braids in 6 weeks. I was cornrowed but I pulled up to check the growth and I didn't even get it up enough. I am holding my braid at the top with my fingers as I had thin cornrows all over my head and the bottom of my hair I ended up forming into a braided bun at the base of my head. I just picked up a cornrow as I had so much growth I could hardly see my scalp. And I must say that it wasn't even completely pulled.

When people say you can't get consistent growth it's just not true.

This pic was taken in February of this year, so my growth is still fast.

Good Point. I am really just being curious and playing devils advocate. I like to think that I am providing the proper environment to reach my maximum. I am drinking at least 2L of water per day, I workout, I eat right and take the egg shake, I massage my scalp, I am currently using an MT/OCT/ mix, I drink the nettle tea as per your recommendation nightly, I plan on trying the nettle rinses. I have seen amazing growth in the past 7 weeks that I have been doing this regimen. And my hair has never been in better shape since I moved from FL but Im curious about the point of diminishing returns. Is there just a point that no matter what you do, your body can't push out more than 2" of hair on your head per month.

I can definitely see your growth there.

I know I'm being somewhat extra but if someone is trying to prove the efficacy of a specific growth aid, then the comparison pics need to be ON POINT down to the smallest detail. In your pics, I can't see where you took the hair from, which is a small detail, but important if you're trying to prove that X growth aid gave you Y amount of growth. I'm not saying that's what you're trying to prove, just speaking in general.

Personally, I think if someone is at their optimal health then their growth rate will be optimal as well. That may be an inch a month. I have a hard time believing anything more than one inch, but maybe it's possible.

I don't even know what my growth rate is. I'm taking this year to try to figure it out. I assume it's average though.

I hear ya. I took it with my pic phone. It's hard to hold and take pics, but if you also see my second pic, it's of braids, and it doesn't matter where it comes from as it's coming from my head and you can see my scalp in the pics. But I feel ya. There really was no need for me to take the pics in Oct except that I freaked out. I didn't expect it to grow THAT fast, so I did a thread to see what others thought. They mostly said it was a growth spurt. HOWEVER if that's true then I've been having one since OCT, because four months later I'm still having one as demonstrated by my cornrow pic. I wasn't doing it to prove anything to anyone at the time, just to get feedback as I just started using nettle. And I took pic this time because I added chlorella and as I was in braids, I new it would show my growth.

So I don't think growth spurts stop if you get them the right way. I can't speak for mn or growth aids and their affects. I can only speak of natural products. I use nettle and chlorella and I eat 80 percent veggies, and mostly fish with some chicken thrown in for measure and it's all organic. I also occasionally down a green drink. No fast food, nothing since september and that's when my growth kicked in.

So I think the right nutrition can help that's all I'm saying. Also that the whole no one can get growth thing is a myth in my opinion.

Okay the old Devil's advocate. I really don't know an answer to that one. I do know, I'm going to try to push out as much as the dear Lord will let me have per month!

I started taking chlorella three weeks ago...we'll see how much more it adds. though if it adds to my already good growth, WHATEVER amount it adds, I'm not mad at it!

Oh I completely agree with you about nutrition. Eating healthfully, exercising, and getting enough sleep are far more important than any growth aids. That's what I was saying about optimal health and optimal growth...growth rates would be much higher especially if someone already has a high rate due to genetics. There's no telling what the human body can do when it is taken care of properly. My personal opinion is that limit is about one inch per month when everything is internally perfect, not based on anything but what I've seen and read so far.

I'm talking about the topical synthetic/unnatural type growth aids (mn, mt, etc. etc.). I have yet to see any proof that those do anything extra.

But, no matter the growth aid (natural or unnatural), the "proof" that is usually presented is unsatisfactory, IMO.

I don't know but I sure voted for 3" a month. I'm the eternal optimist.

I didn't vote for any because my growth is definitely less than 1.5" per month. Currently, I work out 5 days a week, try to eat healthy, eat a lot of protein cos I work out and I stay very hydrated. I don't use topical growth aids (tried them in '07, scalp was dry and itchy - STOPPED immediately) and I'm not consistent enough with my multivits and minerals.

If there were a 1" option, I'd have voted for that and that would have been me being very optimistic :-)

I have noticed that my growth increased slightly when I started working out very often in 2007.

You kinda have to divide it into four weeks. There's generally four weeks in a month. 28 days, maybe two or three more. In order to grow 4in. a month that's an inch a week. For 2 inches a month that's .5 a week. One inch is .25 a week. Which seems more sensible? Just break it up into segments. I know my hair doesn't grow that fast. I need some growth aids.

I think that I got about 2 inches the month I went to Florida. I didnt measure because I didnt care at the time but I went to Miami for a month and when I came back EVERYONE told me how much my hair grew. So I am thinking it had to grow over an inch for people to notice. Warm weather can cause a growth spurt, as we all know.

About growth aids, I dont know. I said just try to take care of your insides and hope for the best. If you're health is not at it's best, you can't really expect your hair to grow as fast.

I get .25 inch a month and I would very content with just getting the average 1/2 inch a month but my diet has been bad.

I mean 1/2 a month=6 inches a year which I think with the knowledge here most people should be able to retain at least half of that. So I dont see the hype with getting more than the average, but thats just me. I dont want really long hair so I guess thats why I dont get the hype about growth aids.

And another thing, all the ladies trying to get an inch and more a month, how often are you ladies relaxing??

The most my hair grew with growth aids was 1 inch a month. If it was 2 or 3... my God I would be the happiest person ever! I'd cut my hair all the time and not even give it a second thought if I knew I could grow 36 inches a year!

I know that my hair grows 1/2 inch a month so at this point I just concentrate on retain and overall health.

For what its worth, I think we can push our hair out much faster than it is inclined to grow naturally. I think the body in a lot of ways works like a machine. If everything is optimally healthy and clean on the inside then we can grow at a rate higher than normally and maintain that. But from there if we add one thing or change something we can achieve a maximum growth rate.

An analogy would be weight loss, even if our nutrition and exercise were perfectly on point we would all be at a certain weight that is predetermined for our bodies genetically. But if we add more exercise and eat less we still have the ability to lose weight from that predetermined point.

All that being said. My natural growth rate is a proven .5 inch a month, no matter what season. I can tell because of the way my permanent hair color grows out, all i have to do is measure and divide by the months its been. But now that I am working towards a cleaner body and better nutrition, I have noticed that my avg is higher when I use the same measure and divide method. So Im wondering how far I can push it.

Given that nothing is "perfect" I think the best I can do is 2" in a month, but I am happy with anything over .5". Does this make sense?

Really what's the point of using the growth aids, ayurveda, egg shakes, chlorella, gelatin, msm, biotin, etc if the max we can get is 2" of new growth per month?

2 inches a month would be a miracle for me. Even of I retain half of the growth, that's six inches in the year

I believe in growth staggered growth, under the right conditions I have acquired 1.5 in 6 weeks . The conditions were , topical sulfur applied every night over six weeks, biotin, water, summer humidity, exercise. I haven't put that much effort since:ohwell:. I think April showers will bring ...warmer weather ...I hear a Spring challenge coming on

What's the point??? If I could get 2 inches of hairgrowth per month, I'd be jumping on every growth aid I could find! 2 inches is a lot of growth!

Shouldn't one just do the trick? Or do they each contribute a little bit so that you can get the max? I don't know that I believe in a maximum but I have never heard or seen anything over 2"

bump, i want more imput, Im really thinking about tweaking some things to see if I can figure out my maximum

The only reason I voted 2 is because I figure if people who usually get 1/2 an inch sometimes get an 1 inch during a growth, I figure if someone got their growth normal growth to 1 inch, then maybe they would get 2 inches during a growth spurt.

I wish I could 2 inches every month this summer. I would be BSL by my birthday, lol. But yeah, I think the most I can see someone getting normally is 1 inch.
