When you put your hair in twists...

Isn't your hair supposed to take LONGER to dry?

When I do a twist-out, it takes about 8 hours to dry. If I leave my hair out it takes 15-18 hours to dry.

I thought that it was supposed to be the other way around because there is more surface area in contact with air when you wear your hair out.

Does anyone else experience this?

When I put my hair in twists it took about 2 and a half days to dry, my hair wasn't wet but very damp.
