Will You Ever Transition?

I have noticed that a lot of relaxed heads are transitioning or doing the big chop once they have reached their desired length. Maybe from being fed up with relaxers and chemicals or just plain boredom. But I don't know if I could ever be comfortable with my hair au natural. I'd be too afraid. But I don't think I could relax for the rest of my life, either. :ohwell:

Do you think you will ever transition?

My goal is to keep my hair at full bra-strap or midback for a little while. Afterward I want to transition and stat locing my hair. I'm just growing my hair to see how long I can get it while relaxed.

Good question.

I'm now natural but I relaxed my hair for close to 30 years and I'm not yet 40 years old...so that's a long time to be doing that.... it's a blessing my hair follicles survived!

I think that Black women who do not know their natural texture in detail (i.e. without relaxed ends) should do so at some point in their lifetime.

Since I was natural before, I know that I will definately go natural again, and maybe even eventually loc my hair. Last time I went natural I had braids for about 4 months after my last relaxer, and then just cut my permed hair off. It was kinda a shock to me and it took a couple of days to get used to. Also I got bored really quickly with my TWA. So this time I think I will reach my goal length with a relaxer, maybe even cut my hair again, and then go natural. Not exactly sure when that will be though.

I barely can handle my texlaxed hair. My transition from bone straight to texlax was and still is a beast for me.

All in all, I don't see myself transitioning anytime soon, being honest. But I know for a fact, I will probably never loc.

I've never really given any thought to transitioning to natural. I'm pretty much with WaterChlyde, since i have just discovered LHCF i want to see what great lengths i can achieve with my relaxed tresses.:D

One day I will probably transition (probably in my mid 40's to 50...about 25-30 years from now). Wow that's a whole lot of years of relaxing to come.

I think NOT. I loved my natural hair but I am scissor-phobic so I can never do the big chop thing and I tried to transition years ago and the breakage was hell. I will be 90 and still relaxing mid-back length gray hair:)

I've definitely considered it. I brought this up to a stylist a few years ago, suggesting that I "grow my perm out" (I didn't know the term, transitioning).

She gave me this look -->

So I said, OK, maybe not :nono:

NOW, I've been considering it, and I am less afraid to do it, but I doubt it will be any time soon ... but we'll see. (I'm actually scheduled for a touch up in about 3 weeks).

lol me too!!:lachen:

But to answer the question, I dont think Ill ever transition. It would be entirely too much work for me.:ohwell:

I am transitioning now (almost 4 months). I don't want my hair to be dependent on chemicals. Also, I think more research should be done on African American hair and getting these chemicals for yearsssssssssssss.

I am goin natural soon as possible its just i havent has a reason to do so.All these hoildays pops up right back each other lots of travelin/visit/my hair needed Look at it best i was almost 4 months temptation did it.

WHY WHY WHY WHY!!!!!:lachen:

Yep. :yep:

When? Hmmmm lets just say my twa's probably gonna be gray.

Yep! I agree! I thought I wanted to do it now, but I don't think I'm ready. I like straight styles too much at present.

I dont think I ever will. I have been natural and I just can't handle it. I will probably learn to stretch longer once my hair gets to my goal length. I would like to be able to relax just twice a year.

Depends on whether my next 2 relaxers take or not .

If they dont, I will think seriously about it, but I wont BC
