Wrapping hair in foil

Has this been mentioned before?

I was just thinking.....wouldn't it be better to wrap hair in foil whilst you have a deep conditioner in, rather than wear a plastic cap.

Foil is a heat conductor is it not?

Wrap your hair in foil and then keep it on with your plastic cap or turban towel thingy.

Or how about putting on the shower cap and then the foil. Wouldn't that rough foil snag and rip your hair out? Yikes!

Yeah we've talked about this before. I remember recommending it to someone who wanted an alternate dc method. I got it from a girl that was featured on Mane and Chic. I still do it as my main dc method. I think I'm going to get a steamer,but I prefer this method over getting under a dryer. I hate doing that!

You can DC by wrapping foil around a lock of hair and using your flat iron to press the foil as you inch down the loc of foil covered hair.

....maybe that should be my next youtube tutorial.

just want to wrap hair my whole head with foil, and applying the heat cap. but I don't know in which order to do this
plastic cap/foil/heated cap
or

I thought the foil was to be used instead of heat.
I remember reading about the foil-n-flat iron DC.

Hmm. My stylist does this for my DC's! In her kitchen though, lol

She'll give me the dryer if I prefer it that day. the method works 'just ok' in my opinion. I don't remember if she put a shower cap on me first, but that's how i'd imagine it.

No foil on my head. Im a bit of an environmentalist. And foil is very taxing on the ecosystem. Are we recycling this foil? Idk. I can't. But maybe it will work for someone else

Instead of putting the foil on the hair, maybe you can line the inside of your conditioning cap with the foil by using tape and then sit under the dryer with the cap on. It would be like the evolve conditioning cap. I used to use the Evolve conditioning cap, but after many uses the silver started coming off and sticking to my hair. I was afraid it would damage my hair so I stopped using it. It worked really well though. Maybe I'll give the aluminum foil lined conditioning cap a try.

it won't damage me , and it's not gonna burn me ! I mean, it's just foil ! im not gonna put my head in the microwave
If it's work better than just plastic cap, I will know immediatly the difference !
if it's seriously too hot, I will out remove the foil !

Now about this flat ironing with foil :scratchch: wonder if that'll stretch my curls without straightening...

Yes, you have a point. They do sell gold foil caps. Next time i'm in a bs shop i'll pick one up - as a poster mentioned the regular foil wrap has edges and will also be awkward to keep on the head. Whether i used the cap or the foil i don't think i'd use heat as well as that would be too hot and i was looking for a way to conduct the heat from my head.
