Attaching pictures of my first time self relax.
Used Mizani Butter Blend (lye). I am a little under process and the sides I did not leave on long because time ran out and I started to feel a slit burn. I think in 6 weeks I will use a no-lye on the sides. What do you think about doing that?

Also did not relax my nape area, trying to get it to grow back.

Thanks to Nix08 I also used the SAA on my new growth (and a little bit along the lengths) and I don't know if it is the SAA or the Mizani BB that left my hair so soft.

I need to know how the heck you ladies self relax at the back. I was using a sprush and had to ask for help once I couldn't see the back area. Please flood me with suggestions. Also how come the half and half method did not work well for me. I had did the back first - no problem no water got on the top area. Then did the front and rinsed out and the relaxer water got into the bottom cap.

Short and sweet here are my pics. I just ended @ 6 months post relaxer. I thought I was 6 months on Sunday, weird the ticker didn't change to 6 months or I thought tomorrow Apr 20th would be 6 months. Last relaxer was Oct 20th 2010. Oh well close to 6 months and I need a relaxer.

Half and Half - bag on front (didn't take a pic on how I placed the back on the back)

Flat Iron Results Lead Hair Touching Bra - Almost there
Also glad I did not cut the back it filled out than before. Plus the protein I think made a big difference. I will wait and see then cut to even out, unless I see splits.

Top view - you can see my sides I didn't leave the relaxer on long so didn't take.

Thank you ladies. I hope to get tips on how to do the back when you self-relax. I didn't dawn on me until I was in the process.

I love it! Welcome to the six month self-relaxer club! I've been a member since this time last year. Your hair looks great. I'm sure you feel quite accomplished!

Thank you, yes 1st time for everything. It wasn't too bad, only thing will need to figure out how to look good in doing it. But very glad that I tried and that I tried self-relaxing. I love the feeling of having control over my hair.

That's a lot of growth!

Looks good. Congrats as I'm sure that was not easy. I'm thinking of relaxing my own. Might call on you for help. I'll read any blogs and posts that you have.

oooh, It's looking Great! You did an amazing job!! I don't have any advice on the half/half method, that is way beyond my capabilities and patience. For the back I use my bare hands and just feel around, yes its a no no!

I really liked the rollerset:grin:

I love your hair..when I pass you avi in a thread I always stop and stare. Great job op!KUTGW.

BlaqBella Wow, thanks!

Nice progress. For the record, I don't think you should use no-lye on the sides.

jwhitley6, Humm.... Will consider and thanks.
I don't know what to do about my sides. Anyone, any suggestions.

chicha Anytime, though this is just my first time. It is not as scary as I thought it would be. I never tried blogging and find myself more in the hair forum than any where else. Maybe I will try that. I want to experiment with SAA and give my feedback on that. When I do I was thinking of just adding my input to an existing thread or start a new one. You are making me consider blogging. :yep:

Nix08 Thanks, I may try it using gloves. I guess I need skin tight gloves or something for that to work. I think a few other ladies uses their bare hands or uses gloves.

Ladies any other suggestions for relaxing the back of the head. I am going to go through the relax threads again. However I have lots of time to figure it out until the next self-relaxer. I have been converted - self-relaxer.

See, it's not so bad to relax yourself! You did a wonderful job!

To see the back of my head, I put two barstools behind me. I then put a mirror on each stool. I was able to see everything going on back there by looking in my big bathroom mirror and tilting my head a bit.

sunnieb thanks for the advice. Hum, must think of a way, I do this in a cramp bathroom. Down to the basement maybe next time. Any suggestions what I should do with my front edges not relaxed?

Or the glove method. I was trying to simulate the process at work wondering if the relaxer will go onto the relaxed hair or not with the other hand holding the hair up and one hand with the relaxer in it. I can see how this method can work too.

Hmmmm:scratchch.......

If you don't want to relax your edges on purpose, just oil 'em like there's no tomorrow and clip them out of the way the next time you relax.

If you underprocessed by accident, you can do a corrective on that part only in a few weeks (I'd wait at least 8 weeks since you are such a good stretcher) if you really want that skrait look.

Really your edges look fine to me. Mine start looking fuzzy at the first sign of newgrowth and I just let them be and keep them moisturized and oiled.

Oh! Congrats on doing the half/half method your first time! I just jumped in and did my whole head! :spinning:

@Nix08 hahaha you ladies are putting pressure on me. At least I'll have 2 readers, thanks ladies!

Make that 3 readers!

Thanks for the tips for my edges and hahaha to my would be blog readers. :spinning: Hmmm the half and half didn't work as well at the end, I wonder if other ladies had water getting into the bottom or it does matter at that point because you already relaxed it. I did the half and half cause I wanted to make sure I didn't over process it cause I can be slow when coming to my hair care. It is all good! I will do more research on the half and half method to perfect it or just do the whole head and add oils to reduce the processing time.

:congrats: on your growth! You'll be BSL in NO time!

Thanks waiting patiently for that day to arrive.
