I'm currently using Silk Elements MegaSilk Relaxer with Shea Butter. I'm fairly happy with it, but I'm in the market for a new relaxer. I stick with SE because I've been using it now for maybe two years and I'm concerned about trying something new.

What relaxer are you currently using and why do you stick with it?

I'm using Silk Elements Lye Regular Strength. I've been using it for a while, but like you I've been kind of wondering what else out there is good. I hear that Alter Ego Linange Shea Butter relaxer is good.

Mizani mixed with conditioner & jojoba oil (I'm texlaxed).

It works so well for me. With the mixture, it's gentle & allows me to retain thickness. I also love the consistency of the wash & go that it gives me.

ETA: It's a lye relaxer :yep:

I've been considering adding oil to the SE Mild, for less processing if I don't find a new relaxer.

Right now I'm using MBB mild, I think I will stick to that for a while...

For years I have been using Precise mild no-lye. After joining LHCF I started adding 2 caps EVOO to it and I like the results, it gets the job done. I will say that I have been curious about some of the newer relaxers out there on the market, but then I think it maybe best to stick with what's working for me.

I have to get up the courage to switch again, I tried once about a year and a half ago going to ORS lye and my hair gave me a lashing for doing that. So it was back to old faithful.

Since I switched to lye, my hair is doing much better. I first used and liked Vitale, but had nothing to compare it to. I then tried Linange Shea Butter and will never use anything else.

Why?

Well, there's no chemical smell to the relaxer. There's no scalp burning (I base). I shed much less hair. Shea butter is fairly high on the ingredient list. I can moisturize my hair better (but that's with lye relaxers in general). I don't get bone straight with this relaxer, but that's ok with me. My hair is fluffly immediately after the relaxer-not limp. I like the texture from this relaxer. Seems like I can wait longer until my next touch up (not sure why this is so, but it is).

I searched this website for linange users and found some good threads. Users all seem to LOVE it.

hope this helps

I may have to try Linange, I like the fact that it does not smell like a typical relaxer and no-limp hair even better.

I have switched back to no lye relaxer and I really like Mizani Butter Blend for Sensitive Scalp. There no relaxer smell, no burning and no flat hair after I touch up. I think I am going to stick with this for a while.

After reading the 29 page review on alter ego linange and other threads on it im switching from affirm no lye to alter ego lye..

I've used mizani butter blends lye for my last two cycles and I really like it! It doesn't leave my hair flat and lifeless. When I went to another salon, I used affirm for at least 6 years and noticed then it thinned me out over time. I also used a few over the counters for abt 2 years when I moved away from my stylist. Looks like mizani is a definite keeper!
