What Relaxer Do You Use? Fine Haired LHCFers

I have been using Affirm for about 2 years straight. Before that I used a no-lye store bought kiddie perm for 3 years and before that I used Affirm Mild for 2 years. I find that the lye relaxers make it easier for me to keep my hair moisturized and tangle free. For example, I can go swimming and walk home without embarassment. My hair is more obedient. It air dries beautifully.

I found that with the no-lye store bought kiddie perm, my hair had more volume, but was dryer. If I went swimming, my hair would be poofy, dry, and breaking as it dried.

So what is your favorite relaxer if you have fine hair?

I am thinking about trying something new.

Is your perm mild? lye or no lye, salon or store bought? Does your hair retain volume?

i use silk elements lye relaxer....salon version (i get it done there)

i luv it. been using it for the last 4-5 years.

I used to use Lusters New Growth No Lye and I liked it but it made my hair too straight. So I tried Profective No Lye. I didn't care for this because it didn't seem to work very long... almost like it reverted too quick. Then I switched to Optimum Fine Hair No Lye which was excellent. The stylist I went to used Design Essentials Lye which was the bomb. Another stylist used Dudley which was the best one yet (Lye). And now, I'm using Affirm Lye which I love. I like Lye alot better as far as the strength of my hair goes. But I had good results with just about everything I've tried. I've never really had a dry hair problem so this was never a real issue. If I had to choose for Lye: Dudley and for No Lye: Optimum.

Right now I'm liking Mizani Senstive Scalp (I know that in another thread, I said that Mizani was the worst relaxer ever, but the sensitive scalp is really good to me).

I really want to try Phyto, but the stylist that I go to in Toledo is already expensive, and I don't want to add a $60 relaxer to the already $$$$$$ fee.

I need to start self relaxing, really.

Affirm is great, but it gets my hair so straight and smooth that it lacks volume for the first 4 - 6 weeks. The best thing about Affirm, and perhaps other lye relaxers is my hair does not suffer with dryness.

Ok, well then you will like Mizani. My hair is starting to get a little too thick for me I never thought I would say that, but it's partly due to Mizani...It's straight but whooo....I started noticing it the first use (after switching from Motions)

My stylist uses Affirm fiberguard regular. It does get the hair nice and straight and my hair retains moisture much better now then when i was self relaxing with no lye box relaxers.
