I find that I don't need to moisturize my hair daily. If I skip a couple of days, my hair will be fine. I can go every other day, or every couple of days and my hair will be fine. I don't use a lot of heat on my hair and I try and dc weekly.

I can't just no moisturize my hair at all. Doing that is a plan for disaster.

If I am wearing my hair straight from a roller set or flat iron, I may only moisturize once that week and use a little coconut oil. My hair will not dry out.

I was wondering about how many ladies out there DON'T moisturize their hair.

For me, since I stopped using heat appliances and switched to a lye relaxer, my hair no longer feels dry to where I need to put a moisturizer on it.

I used to use Elasta QP, but as time went on I did it less and less often and then I just stopped. I also don't use any oils either and wash 1 to 2 times a week. The only thing I leave on my head after the shower is leave in (either Fantasia IC hair polisher, or Giovanni).

Is that weird? It seems like moisturizing hair and or sealing it is a 100% given based on what I read.

Anyone else?

If you are using a leave in conditioner then you are moisturizing your hair. That's what a leave in is a moisturizer.

My hair can't take too much products b/c my hair creates its own moisture on its own. Don't let me start eating salmon! My hair will become really oily!

Right now I really don't have to.

Back in October I started wearing braids and did so for 7 months. Over that time I slowly cut off all the old relaxed hair. Then I did a virgin relaxer on all the new hair. I was not using heat on my hair during that time, as well.

Now my relaxed hair really doesn't need moisturizer. In fact when I have used it, it was too much. I do put a little oil on it before I tie it up at night.

It just need a good deep conditioner and a decent leave-in for moisture and that's it. I had to even stop using a creamy leave-in....hair was way too mushy and would be wet feeling all the time. I even used Henna and still could not use a creamy leave in or moisturizer.

Now, this may change.....I am now back to relaxing and using heat. After touchups, the elements, handling my hair and combing and stuff....let's just say my moisturizers are waiting on the shelf for their time. I used to have to moisturize DAILY or else.

I have learned a lot about my hair in the last 8 months. Healthier hair really needs less "stuff" to maintain it.

Just read all the posts. Everyone has a different idea of what "moisturizing" means to them.

To me shampoo and conditioner and leave in are normal. Yeah technicallt that entire process moisturizes hair. Like someone else mentioned when my hair is dry, it's time to wash.

But, when someone asks me about moisturizing I think about maintenance after the shampoo and conditioning process and after hair has dried. Seems like others are thinking of other things.
