Hated:

Pink Oil...the smell
Infusium 23....very brittle hair
Neutrogena Heat protectant...makes me cough and brittle hair
I'm still on the fence with WGO..leaning towards hate...my goodness the smell gets worse each time I smell it
frown.gif

Fantasia IC braid spray....the smell...I tried it for 1 week and gave it to my mom

Please add Motions Oil relaxers to my list please! I can't wait to finish using up that crap. The mild and the regular are both atrocious.

I think I'm going to become a sample queen. I'm not sure If i like the sebastian potion 9, but i'm a newbie. S-curl seems to dry my hair(I may put too much on) but the careefree gold activator is great on my hair. For some odd reason before I started reading the boards, I *knew* that Pink Oil lotion was the devil, I just knew it.

This thread definitely proves that what works for some might not work for others

Products I HATE!!
*Any shampoo or conditioner fron Elasta QP - doesn't do anything but make my hair tangled and greasy
*Aphogee Evening Primrose Shampoo - dries my hair out
*Anything from African Pride - why do all of their products smell like watermelon?
*Let's Jam (going waaay back) - again with the watermelon smell. Left my hair feeling dry and flaky.

Products I LOVE:
*Elasta QP's Glaze - controls flyaways without making hair greasy and heavy
*Elasta QP's Mango Butter - I love this stuff because it smells great and it works really well on wet hair (and I wet mine a little everyday)
Motions CPR shampoo - I had to use this once they recalled the Motions CPR conditioner from the beauty supply stores (namely Sally's), but it's still on shelves here in NY.
*Nexxus Keraphix & Nexxus Humectress - works for me - my hair has never felt stronger, and it easy to comb out.
*Lacio Lacio - Dominican leave-in conditioner - makes my hair soft and silky
*100% pure coconut oil - What can I say that hasn't already been said - i love this stuff
grin.gif

*I hate African Pride's carrot and tea tree hair dress - I used to love this stuff. I had just found it bought another jar went through that when they changed it. The new stuff has a lot of dye that stain your hands and anything else it comes near.

* Apoghee hair treatments . The protein treatment leaves the ahir hard and brittle and the moisturizing conditioner does nothing to help. It leaves the hair dry and tangled.

oh yea, i also hate lottabody setting lotion! my mom just bought a 16 oz bottle of that. it leaves my hair hard and brittle and once i comb through it it's poofy!
mad.gif

HATED:

Pink oil moisturizer
Infusium 23 leave-in... but the protein pak works wonders!
KMS flat out balm
Grund reconstructer
Anything from Motions

Let me tell you about my experience with Lottabody...but 1st is it the clear bottle w/ the purple liquid, if so you're supposed to dilute it with water! If it's the white bottle that's the premixed kind and it's still a lil too crunchy for my taste, but the Creme Wrap by Lottabody that Sweetcocoa recomended is BELLISIMO!!
smile.gif

Okay here's the story this was the summer of 94 and I spent the summer at my aunt's house. So I asked this girl how'd she get her hair like that (she had a smooth wrap going on) and she says my sister used Lottabody and wrapped my hair. So, I'm like BINGO!!! I get the Lottabody (the kind you are supposed to mix w/ water) wrap my hair and when it dried it was hard as all get out I'm talking about HELMET HEAD!!! But did I do the smart thing and just rinse out the HELMET WRAP???? Nooooo, I wanna comb it I'm telling you hair was breaking every which way! I can laugh about it now

, but then I was like

*ms kenesha*

yea, i have the purple kind you dillute with water. you sound like me! combing it out and experiencing even more breakage!

Dislikes/not v impressed:
My hairdresser warned agains Pink Oil years ago when I was a teen
smile.gif
It always was too greasy.

I used Aveda Brilliant shampoo yesterday, felt nice when I washed my hair, it was detangling but the conditioner didn't so anything for me. It's expensive and the pomade smells too strong for my tastes.

Pantene "Perfect Curls" shampoo and conditioner. My hair felt dry after washing.

I do like:
Palmers Coconut Shampoo (I forgot I used to use that!)
At One Leave in conditioner (forgot about that too!)
Organic roots Stimulator Hair Mayo
ORS Uplifting Shampoo
ORS Jojoba Oil is okay.
When I used to blow dry, I used IC Hair Polish (something like that), gave my hair a nice natural looking sheen.
I used LeKair cholestorol treatment when my hair was relaxed, it was ok, I'll try it again.

I'm still learning, I do want to try Creme of Nature detangling shampoo.

*Daughter*

yea, i heard Pink oil make the hair greasy and it's heavy on the hair until it breaks. that's why my sister is experiencing a lot of breakage right now.
frown.gif
i recently bought cream of nature (the green kind) and loved it! it smells like what my hairdresser uses, she keeps her shampoos facing the wall so no one knows what she uses.
ohwell.gif
it also made combing my wet hair out really easy. but my hair doesn't really get very tangled so i'm going to try it out on my sister whose hair is a mess after washing!
shocked.gif

the hairdresser HID the names of the shampoo bottles? Some of em just want you dependent on em, I swear!
shocked.gif
I'd be more inclined to be loyal to a hairdresser that educated me on how to look after my hair

That settles it... gonna buy Creme of Nature tomorrow!

Do you (or anyone) know if AllWays Natural still make that cream "No More Breaks"? I haven't used that (or any of their stuff) in years! It worked ok in my hair when it was relaxed, I wonder if it'll help (going thru some breakage at the mo

)

Products I'v tried and will never buy again:

Cathy Howse's Conditioner and Leave-In conditioner. The conditioner left my hair tangled and dryed out. The Dew was like using water on my hair. Black & Sassy Creame Setting Lotion, this product left my hair stiff and dry. Motions oil moisturizer. This product turned me off completely from buying any Motions products ever again. It left my hair straw like and stiff. I had to rewash and condition my hair twice in one night. Never again.

I tried and didn't like:

1.Lottabody Creme Wrap Lotion

2.ORS Temple Balm

3.Keracare Detangling Shampoo

*Daughter*
yes she does! she hides everything in this locked closet. (she works in her basement, wait her nieces basement). plus whenever i ask advice on maintaining a style she laughs at me. recently i've realized she does a lot of the things that ruin relaxed hair. like blowdrying on the highest setting, combing from the roots to ends, etc. now i only go to her once every 2 months for my relaxer.
look.gif

Products I've always hated:

Dixie Peach Hairdressing
LottaBody hair lotion wrap
Tresseme Shampoo and Conditioners
Any African oils you can buy at the hair shops the stuff is just too greasy and just sits on my hair
Regular Pantene Shampoo and Conditioner (there's a difference between this product and their Pro-V line)
Elucence Shampoo and conditioner (did nothing for me)

There are probably more but I can't remember them now...oh
Elasta QP feels like silk (yeah right)
Elasta Shampoos and conditioners

How did I miss this thread? I got a hella long list of crap I've tried:

Wrap'n Tap'n or whatever the name is - Should be called Crap'n Tap'n. Made my hair hard like brillo.
Optimum Conditioning Shampoo, ORS Hair Mayo, and LottaBoddy Wrap Lotion (the blue one) - Left my hair tangled, tangled, tangled
Hollywood Beauty Carrot Creme - Nasty. Left my hair dry and I tried it every whichway but in the trash.
Pink Oil - Does this crap work on anyone?
Motions Relaxers (ALL of them) - My hair reverted after the first wash

Loves:

Mizani Relaxer - After 2 washings hair is still straight.
Profectiv Break-Free - Just enough moisture.
Smooth and Sleek - Good stuff
Break-Free Conditioner - The tingling and minty smell is heavenly.

Jury's still out on:

Suave Humectress
Tropical Aloe Vera

perhaps she's scared that if customers find out what products she uses their hair will look better than when she does it, then leave. Not surprising, given what you've said about some of her practices!

yea, that's true. sometimes i wanna cry after visiting her because she only puts Motions Wraping Foam in my hair then blowdries it and the end result is not cute! my curls fall flat within a couple of hours and my hair is full of static! my boyfriend always says," You seriously just got your hair done?".

Absolutely hate:

Aveda Sap Moss Shampoo - my hair was matting while I was washing with this.

Absolutely love:

Elucence Moisture shampoo and conditioner. I just received the extended moisture conditioner - love it too. Has anyone used this? What were your results?

Carol's Daughter Khoret Amen Oil - Love the smell, it doesn't weigh my hair down

Aveda's Elixir - use this as a leave-in

I've pretty much narrowed my products down to these. That's pretty good for a product junkie.

i gotta agree with the pink oil. after a while the smell started to get to me. i can spot that smell in a line up. i also tried aphogee shampoos and conditioners and i still have them and i keep reading the back trying to make sure i am reading the ingredients right because it seemed so promising but didnt deliver.

i am loving my dark n lovely hydrating citrus and braid sheen spray. it smells fruity and my hair stays moisturized. and i dont know if it is the biotin creme or just my imagination but my edges are thicker. i never had a problem with my edges/hairline but i just want to use something on them. i use that and castor oil. i'm lucky i mostly right stuff down instead of buying them. by the time i am ready to buy the stuff people no longer love them and i am not as enthusiastic about buying them.
smile.gif
God bless you all.

<font color="brown">Well, there are only a few products that I absoluely hated:
<ul type="square">
Aubrey Organics GPB- Worked well in the beginning, but I noticed a weird coating on my hair after subsequent uses.
nono.gif

Nioxin Bionutrient Cleanser 1C and Scalp Therapy - TOO DRYING; left my hair brittle.
perplexed.gif

Fantasia IC Pue Tea Instant Oil Moisturizer - Greasy and eventually left my hair kind of dry and brittle. It just would not absorb into my hair.
confused.gif

Kemi Moyst No Soap Shampoo and Conditioner - I could not tolerate the fragrance, and the products . . . well, they just sucked . . .
censored.gif

Jason Natural E.F.A Shampoo and Conditoner - The products actually worked well. I just HATED the lingering fragrance. I will stick with the Sea Kelp product.

Azul,
Do you have braids or do you just use the spray on your hair for moisture? I used to love that Dark N Lovely when I had braids. Didn't know I could just use it on my hair?
Jen

yea i have braids in. i see they have other stuff in their line but i never really checked out to see what it was to be used on (braids or just the hair) i saw they had almond mist oil i think and some other stuff that caught my eye. i wouldnt even know how i could use this without the braids. maybe if i braided my own hair?
confused.gif
like in a braid out?? God bless you all.

well I have to make an update here and change my hate for Elucence to love.

I decided to re-try it again fairly shortly after my first post on this thread and suddenly found I like it! I particularly like the Elucence conditioner for its detangling properties.

So that's a change of heart for me.

****HATE it****
Tropical avocado conditioner (Dominican), major upset. And its made up of nothing but alchol, although its fatty alchols, so its not bad. But, can they come up with beneficial ingredients.

and.....elasta qp mango butter moisturizer, the smell irks my nerves and it its too thick and greasy, I hate the feel of it on my hands. And anyway Ive noticed oil moisturizers with water does not take well on my hair. Thats why Im in love with wildgrowth hair oil.

Angie, I use Aubrey Organics JAY shampoo, and I think it does help with the dryness of my hair. But the stuff will leave a film after a while; I saw the build up happening and didn't want to admit it was this product.

I should probably look for a product with its benefits, and without its cost and filmy-ness.
