ooooookay so most of you may know (if you follow my fotki) that I am on a hair break and during this break my hair is in small natural braids..well..

I have worn the braids for about a little over 1.5 months and I think I might've gained about 1 inch or more of growth..GREAT right?? well..
Last night I took down my braids..today I combed through w/ conditioner/washed/moisturized/applied a protein spray and combed through once more with extra conditioner but...
Through the process I experienced the SNAP/CRACKLE and POP! I mean is this shed hair/broken hair or Whaaaaaaat?

How much shed hair should I be losing after a little over 1.5 months in natural braids????
I take care of my hair like a crazy person when its in braids!
I am getting my natural hair re-braided next week-but how do I keep the progress I already made???? :pullhair:

Well, if you shed 100 hairs a day and had braids for 45 days...not typing that number but it's a big one! So I'd expect quite a bit of shedding. Whenever I hear theSCP sound, which I only like in Rice Krispies, I up my protein. If I feel that, I add Aphogee leave-in as a base under a more moisturizing conditioner. I'm natural too and find that doing this helps keep my breakage down. Good luck.

Cant help sorry... But just wanted to tell that I love your hair... *off to stalk your fotki*

I am so tempted to turn my current stretch into a transition...

I'm sorry to not answer your question Netta, but I LOVE your hair!

Thanks!

The biggest reason I get the snap/crackle/pop sound is because I'm breaking my hair by not being gentle. And I mean truly being gentle. It's something I'm really trying to work on right now because it takes extra effort and patience to take my time.

Thanks Ronnie-

If the 100 hairs a day rule is true..then that would mean 4500 hairs! I am no where near losing that....

I applied the Aphogee spray before and after using a conditioner/moisturiser and coconut oil...

Maybe it will work?? About how long should my hair take to respond??

funny u did this thread but i was thinking of one too re: snap crackle pop. if u hear that, it is breakage. i get it too if i'm not careful. for me i think i will have to start shampooing/co-washing/detangling in sections as my hair gets longer.

^^^thats what I figured^^^^^

and I am pretty sure that is what I am experiencing, but I will double check
