Random Hair Thoughts/Thinking out loud

My hair over here like it has never seen a bone in its life.

Also my mom cut her locs of 14 years and somehow we've decided to comb her hair out. Lord, please HELLP us to do a good job and take this down please. In Jesus Name, Amen.:lachen:

GL to you two!!

I found these tools be invaluable when I combed out my locs a few years ago. Well worth the $7 I spent!

Also, found it better for MY fine hair to comb them out dry which contrasts advice given in a lot of places. A needle would've taken way too long and a regular comb was ineffective.

And I actually still use that metal comb when I straighten my hair. :look: Since I don't comb or brush my hair except for when I use heat, I'm nervous about which tools I use. And that metal comb has no seams. It's also inflexible, which I've found to be better for my hair.

I think that the Nature's Bounty hair/skin/nails vitamins really do seem to speed up my growth and strengthen my nails. For a few months, I've been using the Target brand because they're cheaper.

Well, I finally purchased the real deal back in March because I felt like the generic weren't doing anything, and I actually feel that they've had an impact. No more generics for me, I'll stick to the brand name.

I completed my MBA today! It was the perfect addition to my Earth Day festivities. I walk in June (Kentucky). I attended Western Governors University in Utah. I guess I better throw on one of those brand new lace wigs and take some graduation pics. #Madeit IMG_3729.jpeg
Here’s a pic of me and my best friend since preschool. She’s has an MBA too. Don’t mind the reversion. They had me sweat out my blowout doing TikToks.

What differences have you noticed? What do you differently for your wash n set?
For me, a wash n go is literally that. I wash my hair in the shower, moisturize, maybe some styler, then go on my way. My hair is always soft but also always frizzy. My hair also tends to look dirtier faster (but this is probably due to my workout routine and I'm imagining things).

Now a wash n' set, the washing in the shower routine and products are exactly the same. However, I take the time to 'set' my hair to lay in a specific way. I still primarily air dry but just the act of placing my hair in specific places leads to less frizz, more shine, and looking clean for longer.

Congratulations and well done to you, lovely pic ❤️

a random reflection on my current motivation for longer hair: I took a road trip this weekend with my family, and my cousin (WL 4ab hair) put in about 4 braids for a braidout when we got to our destination. Partially because she has a toddler like I do and partially because that's just how she's always been--she just keeps it simple with her hair and that's why it quickly retains length when she randomly cuts it.

And that braidout was so cute the next day! Now, my road trip twistout was cute as well, but I had in about 4x as many twists  So I think I would really enjoy being able to style my hair in simpler ways with longer hair. The length kinda just makes most styles work with less effort. :yep:

I am looking forward to this freedom as well.

I imagine putting my hair in braids/twist up into a ponytail or bun while it air dries; no rush
Then when I'm ready, take it down to wear and out style
Then when I'm ready, I can put it back up into twist and into a bun/pony until I'm ready to cleanse again.

I agree with what you said about length helps make styles work better ... less effort.

I’m ready for the school year to be over. I’m in my last few weeks of school messy bun era. I have 2 brand new lace wigs, so there’s really no excuse for me to be at that school looking like that.

I might get my cousin to install one for me this weekend. I have a 26 inch buss down and a down to the booty boho braid wig.
