Soooo...I made my own clip-in extensions - Videos are up

I am very pleased with them. I made several wide pieces and several one inch pieces. Everyone actually thought it was my hair because my hair matched up so well with it and my hair is the same length. It only took about 5-10 minutes to sew 3 clips each track and I was in a hurry because my son's graduation was tonight. Anyhow, here is a pick of me with my nieces(I'm on the right). Tell me what you think.

Also, thank you to the ladies that responded to my post yesterday. I was in a panic and they came through.

I love these. I actually have the 1.5" pieces in the front of my hair. I already have four requests from people (after I told them it wasn't my hair) to do a set for them.

Looks great! I wouldn't have known about these clip-ins if it wasn't for my girlfriend that told me about them :sekret:
I read in another post that you are also doing the C&G method. How did you get it to work with the clip ins??? tia
 
wow they look great...can you share how you made them please? or does anybody know? I saw some fairly cheep on a shopping channel but they didnt have my hair texture...

I've done that myself, only I added colored extensions for highlights. People thought I had really highlighted my hair!

Thank you Dee!! Well I do a tweaked version of the C&G method. The crown is out and I plait everything underneath. Also, I don't add hair like in the original C&G method.

It was more of a project trying to figure out how to put the clip-ins in than actually making them :lol:. What I finally decided to do was put the plaits in two low ponytails and then putting them in one oblong ponytail (so it wasn't too long and no ends were popping out). You couldn't see through it in the back but if someone were to touch the back of my head, you could feel the lump; I didn't care though.

I think I am going to invest in more quality hair. Even though I am pleased with the hair I'm thinking there is some that might be even better. Do you have any suggestions? The kind I got was the Lisa brand and it was New Yaki in #2, 14".

Thank you! Sure, I'll show you how to make them. I'll make a video clip showing exactly what I did to sew them in. Also, I think it would be best for you to go to a store and have them match up your texture with the hair in the store as well as the color. The kind I got was New Yaki in #2 and the brand was Lisa ... I got it from a discount store and it was only $20. I didn't know how it was going to turn out because this is all new to me; but now that I know easy it is, I am going to invest in a little more quality hair.

I'll do the video this afternoon.

There were several posts talking about clip-ins and that's where I got the idea. Then I posted a couple of questions the other day and some ladies came through with answers. I am going to do an instructional video later on today showing how I did it. I have to go buy more clips first. Trust me though, it's soooooo easy and quick.

I'll have the video soon I hope. Just called Sally's and they still didn't get anymore clips in and the ones at the discount store are a 'NO-NO' because the comb part is not sealed off (think of a bobby pin without the protective coating on the ends :eek:). Sure, I'll make you a set but once you see the video you are going to be like ... "That's it!!".

Thank you ... thank you ... thank you!!! I had too much secret brightener on though (I was in a rush). I am so proud of my son ... he is a good kid and hopefully he will do just as well in highschool as he did in middle school.
 
Li well done! Your hair looks very cute and very real! good job! I have hair at home, i think i will buy the clip ins this weekend and make my own clip ins as well. My question is why did you braid up your hair? I thought that you can just attach the clip ins to a hunk of your hair that is out, and just rock them like that. so that it's very simple to pop them in and simple to remove them at nite. Does anybody wear them like that? or must I braid up my hair in order to attach them?

I don't wear mine as much as I used to, but when I was wearing them regularly, I would come home from work and remove them and then moisturize my hair or shampoo/condition it or whatever. I never slept in them. I just put them back in in the a.m.

Beautiful! Can you do an instructional? Post how to make them? Post some pics of the pieces and what the clips look like?

Simply beautiful!! I can't wait for the video. I wonder if this would work on natural hair? I guess I got some experimenting to do...

Thank you!! The clip-ins are soooo easy.

I only braid my hair because I have been doing a modified version of the C&G routine. Otherwise, putting them in would be a breeze.
 
Ok so I just got back from the beauty supply store, got some wig clips, hair and crazy glue.
It's SO easy, I would sew them on in the future just to be able to reuse them but today it took literally 30 seconds to crazy glue the wig clips on and viola!
The clips are very sturdy and the hair is natural looking. I didn't get long enough hair to make a difference but I can add fullness to some of my layers and I see how cute adding highlights would be with this technique
