Soooo...I made my own clip-in extensions

So you don't have to braid your hair to use the clips? You just clip it to your hair at the roots? Is that similar to using a bobby pin or barrett? Thanks in advance for the info.:D

Thank you! Sure, I'll show you how to make them. I'll make a video clip showing exactly what I did to sew them in. Also, I think it would be best for you to go to a store and have them match up your texture with the hair in the store as well as the color. The kind I got was New Yaki in #2 and the brand was Lisa ... I got it from a discount store and it was only $20. I didn't know how it was going to turn out because this is all new to me; but now that I know easy it is, I am going to invest in a little more quality hair.

I'll do the video this afternoon.

Oh thank very much, thats very kind of you, i cant wait to see it. *hugs*

Its just like using a barrett, specifically those metal barretts that snap down on your head.

Okay ladies ... Sally's finally found the clips in their shipment but they only got two packs. So my niece is on her way over here now so I can do that part of the video. I'll do it in several segments because some of it will be just informational. I should have it in about an hour. Sorry for the delay ladies!!

P.S. Thank you all for the compliments!! I love my LHCF sisters!!!

I am very pleased with them. I made several wide pieces and several one inch pieces. Everyone actually thought it was my hair because my hair matched up so well with it and my hair is the same length. It only took about 5-10 minutes to sew 3 clips each track and I was in a hurry because my son's graduation was tonight. Anyhow, here is a pick of me with my nieces(I'm on the right). Tell me what you think.

Also, thank you to the ladies that responded to my post yesterday. I was in a panic and they came through.

I love these. I actually have the 1.5" pieces in the front of my hair. I already have four requests from people (after I told them it wasn't my hair) to do a set for them.
just beautiful, you did a great job

HEEEEELLPP!!! I need help with uploading the videos. Anybody have any ideas??? TIA!!

I am soooo glad that you like the PMSS!! It's my favorite and, trust me, I used to be the biggest product junkie. You know how someone says ... my hair laughed at that stuff; well Paul Mitchell SS laughs at my hair and says 'that's all you got?!!?'. I can comb through over 2 years worth of new growth with no problem using this stuff and I have 4a mostly b hair. Also, in my picture the very front piece that is shorter is my hair and you really can't tell that I have so much newgrowth.

Whew! That was a 24-hour project; didn't know what I was getting myself into . Anyhow, the videos are up on YouTube (Yahoo was taking a long time to finish uploading them) but they are still in "review-mode" I guess because it just shows 'coming soon'. I'm sure they will be up in a couple of hours. I have one more video to upload and that will show exactly what I did to measure the hair on my model (my very patient niece :)). Also, I apologize for the audio in the videos; I didn't think to narrate while I was doing them so I had to add it after.

So let me know what you think and if you have any questions or want to add to any of my explanations (since I am sooooo new to this) please feel free!!

Also, thank you again everyone for the compliments .

oops ... it would be helpful if I added my youtube page wouldn't it??!?!?!? http://www.youtube.com/user/junglette

Your hair looks wonderful and this is a great tutorial (I've saved it as a favorite already and sent it to my sister!!!!). I'm going to the BSS sometime this week to get started. Thanks for taking the time to do this, greatly appreciated.

Thank you JLove and RachiQue!!!

I am going to re-do the sewing instructional sometime tonight so that my "P's" aren't emphasized so much (it gets annoying).

I read the entire thread and watched the materials video but may have missed it--

Lili--what are the clips called @ Sally's? Where are they found there?
(Just in case the sales clerk has no idea what I am talking about/looking for :)

My Sally's doesn't stock very many; but that's because the one in my area doesn't sell very many of them. Please let me know if you have any trouble getting them.

I love clip in extensions. You can create any style.

I'm going to use them to make a bun since my hair isn't quite long enough, this weekend. And my sister made her clip ins about an hour ago. I'll put picture in my fotki, so you can see the fruits of your labor - so to speak!

This should be a sticky!!!!
