I agree, how can this not be an assault? So if the mother went up to the school and cut the teachers hair would that be assault? Doesn't make sense. Yet another Black child unnecessarily traumatized and the system supports the assailant.

She was given a $175 ticket for disorderly conduct? Well, I would have been charged with assault and battery. Because you best believe, if a teacher would have the unmitigated NERVE to violate my daughter like that, I am rolling up to the school, with three or four of my biggest cousins and will issue that teacher a beat down she would never forget. This "teacher" (if she still had full use of her hands after) would NEVER think to violate anyone else's child like that.

I don't care how frustrated you are- that behavior is inexcusable.

under NO circumstances should one human do this to another and even more so no adult traumatize a child in this way.

the teacher should be civilly sued and criminally charged.

the girl should not have her hair adorned with any items that make noise until she learns how to behave.

the way she demonstrated playing with the beads/hair is distracting and very annoying and imo her disposition indicates she probably did it deliberately to antagonize the teacher and/or disrupt the class.

I agree - what she did was wrong and she should be punished, but i believe the punishment should fit the crime. A fee is nice, but she needs to be TAUGHT why what she did was wrong - classes, workshops, and regular follow-up would be preferred in my book - plus, it is a more long, drawn-out punishment.

I am not saying there is no reason at all to be upset over this situation - this is an unfortunate situation and it is distrubing, but just I don't feel it warrants the death threats and a** whoopings some of the ladies are suggesting. IMO, ya'll coming from the same place as she did when she got mad and cut that baby's hair - something made her upset so she reacted with violence. Eye for an eye makes the world blind ;)
 
She needs to be fired. Period! If she can't hack a class of 7 yrs olds making little noises, then she isn't capable of being a teacher. She doesn't need a ticket either. She needs jail time. The mother can charge her for assault. Once she touched that girl the assault took place. The repeated warnings to stop were harrassment. And I want her charged.


I am mad. How could she. I wonder if it was a black teacher or not? And she is still teaching. I wouldn't want my daughter moved from her class of friends either. That mother should demand her daughter be put BACK in her rightful classroom with her friends and that the teacher be suspended.

Man, they better be glad it wasn't my child. I'd be on CNN with it by now. lol but seriously.
 
First OFF I wouldn't have gotten violent oh nope, I would definitely want to hear the teachers side of the story, I'd have my daughter there, and she'd show me her steps and Then I would react them as such.

Lift the teachers hair and cut a large chunck out did you do it like this and hand her, her hair and let her know after asking my child to step out " IF YOU EVER IN YOUR LIFE, PUT A SCISSOR TO MY CHILDS HEAD AGAIN, Lord help you" That is not a threat that is a warning that comes along with my child like ajax, "MUST RESPECT MY CHILD OR MOTHER MIGHT kick your ASSININE" So then I guesS I would get a little tempered.

But that is STRAIGHT UP ASSAULT and if that mother doesn't take it further she is doing a disservice for her child. It might be something her child takes with her for life, but knowing mommy handled it will make her feel a lot better.


Ladies I have had a teacher who had an issue, race wasn't the issue. She Put my son's lunch box in the garbage, I called her due to us having so many many many issues and the principle, DON'T Talk to my son or touch his things , he tells me everything, my son was worryed about getting in trouble so I KNOW he was telling the truth, he said she snuck it back out, that is NASTY and unsanitary, My aunt is a DA and my sister is a attorny don't make me get ugly I get a DISCOUNT!

I know where you're coming from with that...I expected to see it cut off at the base of the braid, with just a little stub sticking out.
But even though she didn't cut much, the fact that she felt the need to cut at all is inexcusable. The girl is six, and children of that age do silly, absent-minded things like playing in their hair. I will say that I was shocked at how she was playing in them, slapping them all around...the sound of those beads all day would have gotten on my nerves too. But as an educator, the teacher's job is to deal with that in the proper way, and to NOT put your hands on another person's child.

She could have had tied the girl's hair back in a ponytail, made her write lines, made her sit alone for some "time-out", called her mother, sent her to principal's office, not let her go for recess...if she wanted to get real remedial, she could have made her stand in a corner facing the wall. But she shouldn't have touched her. Not her hair, not anything at all.

I mean...if a little boy has a habit of tapping his foot in her next class, what is she gonna do? Cut his foot off? :lachen:
 
The reality is that if it were just the noise of the beads, the teacher could have actually removed the beads from the girls hair. That's permissible, just like if a kid brings a toy to school or a radio or something that is distracting. It wasn't her hair, it was the beads.

But I guess that would have required actual hard work from the teacher.
 
My question is what will she or any other teacher do when they get frustrated the next time...... She should have been atleast suspended without pay for 90 days or something, if they weren't going to fire her. If I was the mother I would be suing her behind. The braid she cut off was very close to that child's eye good thing she didn't try to move away or jump.

NOT even that, write me a letter home or call and ask if it is oKAY you have no right to touch my childs personal body! oh no! that hair is part of my child, because I send them to school doesn't give you a right to adjust or interfer with my doings. OH NO!

What about their stinky perfume, we have to deal with that! OH NO! OH NO! um um,
 
The fact that she's teaching a First Grade class and can't deal with a few noises is crazy. Plus that little $175 is nothing putting scissors to a students head is crossing the line in any situation.

That's nothing. Really, the braids would have been the last of my worries. I used to be a teacher and whenever students would play with their hair, I'd imitate them (sometimes) and tell them my classroom isn't a beauty school. They would usually comply and put their things away.

Clearly this woman doesn't teach in a "challenging" school, because if she did, this would be the last of her priorities.
 
Ayo straight up, I probably would have stomped a mud hole in her arse. I know that doesn't solve anything but I would have been pissed the *** off!
 
what kind of foolishness?! If I was that girl's mother there would be HELL TO PAY I mean serious consequences. Who the hell does that she need to be sacked big time! Frustrated my back foot, what if she was misbehaving would she throw a chair at her? Some people.

The child playing with her hair like that would have annoyed me too, but I just would have sent her to the principal's office. It would never have occured to me to cut her hair off... :nono:
 
I think a career change is definitely in order for this lady as I fail to see how she can effectively teach children when she is clearly lacking in maturity and self control. What a poor example to show the children in her class - It’s ok to basically assault and humiliate someone as long as your defense is frustration :perplexed - how are the children in her school expected to respect a teacher like this? And for those who do respect her, I can only hope that they will not hold her behaviour as an example of proper conduct. Poor girl :nono:

That is so....crazy. Seriously what sort of imbalanced person would actually DO something like that? I don't know why, but that is seriously disturbing to me, like teacher isn't right in the head.
How cruel to the poor baby :nono: Kids do all sorts of irritating things. Traumatizing them (and in front of classmates!) is not an acceptable response. She'll never forget this :perplexed
