I put myself on a trimming plan: 1/4 inch off every two months. In addition, I've taken about 1/2 inch off in the past couple of months.

I think my previous stylist jacked up my ends with too much heat (and possible overprocessing), but they are looking much better these days.

I feel pretty good about my ends...actually I'm due for a trim soon. If you're not doing anything damaging to your ends you don't have to trim as often, that's been my case. I'm natural and don't use heat often but I have to make sure every now and then to check my ends by straightening my hair and examining how my ends look. What has worked for me is oiling my ends two times a day and staying away from heat :yep:.

I did a trim last night 1/2-3/4". I feel ashamed to say that even though the were raggedy looking, I hated to cut them off. I feel like whenever I'm making progress I have to whip out the scissors! I also haven't had a trim/dust since maybe August. My hair does look better. Anyone else feel this way? I promise you will not get stoned!:lachen:

I'm right there with you. I plan to go get a wash and press next week and I'm dreading my hairstylist telling me my ends are rough :nono:. I've been wearing a lot of buns and really babying my ends because I want them to be thick and healthy, and I don't want to have to trim (although I don't mind a light dusting).

I got a little heat crazy so I have more splits than I would like right now. I'm going to dust my ends after I take my sew-in down (end of Jan).

Well, I'm natural and I guess I couldn't really tell, but always thought they looked ok. However, I went to a stylist who pressed my hair and asked if I wanted a trim, I replied "no" and then he took a curler and curled them under so they won't be visible. So, judging from that...i guess they don't look too hot.... :(

This happened to me before :nono:. Just because I was natural and wasn't using heat I thought my ends were fine until I got my hair pressed and flat ironed. My beautician at the time said that I needed a trim and I did need one, my ends were see through :perplexed. From then on I had to make sure that I prevent my ends from getting dry by oiling my ends and holding off on trimming.

No. having healthy even ends kind of makes the hair for me. My hair behaves so much better and has more body when i trim. Im not afraid of scissors

Got a trim 2 weeks ago but they're not looking so hot. :( I've always had terrible ends but didn't have the guts to trim because they added 1/2 inch of frazzled length! :lachen:

My ends look good. I used to go a long time without trimming and then trim when it looked like a cat licked it but for me, I find that small consistent trims result in more overal retention. I won't ever go months without a trim again.

My ends are looking pretty good. I had a good cut/trim in August and I S&D/dust my ends once a month and it's been smooth sailing since. I will probably dust with my next relaxer, just to stay ahead of any damage or splits. I cannot stand thin/see through ends on my hair.

I only do big trims (1/2 inch or more) 3 times a year.

My ends are uneven but after 2 weeks of daily dusting I'm proud to say that I'm 99% free of single strand knots and splits. I will be doing rollersets from now on to stretch my ends. I will not trim to make it even since the rest will eventually catch up. I will probably trim 2 years from now :giggle: when I hit hip length.

My ends are breaking. I think it has to do the too much manipulation ( I braid my hair every night for braidouts in the morning) and the need for protein.

OT: It's funny I've just discovered I have hair schitzophrenia! :skitzo: One day I love all aspects of it and it's soft and beautiful, then overnight, "the freaks come out!" and it's a dry, tangled, shedding/breaking dog! Can anyone else relate?

My ends are actually better than they have ever been! the only thing that makes them look bad is the thick lush NG that I have, which makes my relaxed ends look thin when wet in comparison. As soon as my hair dries though, they look much better :yep:

I've never had a problem with my ends. They're healthy and soft due to my weekly rollersets and deep condition treatments.

I trim every 6 months.

I refuse to trim again until I get to WL. I had about 3-6" cut when I ended my transition back in April. I decided then that I'd trim about .5 every 3 months, but that's defeating the purpose of meeting my goal.

I don't hardly use heat, probably 3x a year. I did notice that I could stand to get rid of .5-1". Once I'm at WL, I can trim .5" every two months until everything looks good. Yep, that's my plan.

My ends are so raggedy they are throwing up gang signs right now. Just too lazy and having too much fun to dust them right now. Will do that sunday.

My ends are thin... I don't like them when I straighten my hair (which is rare). I like them when they are curly though - they provide the weight my hair needs & they aren't split.

Just trimmed my ends a few days ago. I am sad at the teeny lost length, but I can't wait for my blunt cut to grow in thicker!

My life is all about the ends...and not in a good way...lol...I never looked after my ends and had to trim more hair off in my life than I have on my head.lol...but i have to admit..i looking after my ends a lot more...and yes...trimming is my nemesis.

I don't like trimming, so I always end up waiting until my ends are bad leading to more being cut.

I really need to stick to a trimming routine.
I am RIGHT there with you girl:nono: this is my m.o. I HATE getting trims I give my stylists the craziest look when they come next to me with scissors so they just too scared to give me anything but a conservative trim the one day a yr I come to them:lachen: I always push it to the max when my ends are a mess:ohwell: by my standards anyway. I think I need to get a regular trimming schedule and really get vigilant about my ends.

EXACTLY:yep: I think I need to do a serious section by section S&D during my next straightening session.

i dont trim my ends as often a i should--but i do need a trim now---i dont like the look of fresh cut ends prob becuz i dont likethe look of perfect hair--i like hair that is dif lengths all overs--kinda like layers--anyway i digress

i only trim twice a year. I don't like the look of blunt ends and ever since a scissor happy stylist cut my hair from APL to neck length in the name of a "trim" and it took me almost to years to grow it back to BSL, scissors are not my friend. After that experience, I learned to trim myself and it's working. I only go to a stylist twice a year anyway and i GO HOME and trim once my hair is straight.

The joke is, I recently went to my stylist for a blowout AFTER I had trimmed my hair a few days prior and you know that fool told me I need a trim?! He kept going on and on about my hair will not grow, but whenever he sees me, he goes on and on about how fast my hair is growing and how healthy it is .

Also, the heeffa who cut my hair off in the mishap cut very deep layers, so now that my hair has grown out it is in long layers, which my stylist assumes is "damage". Whateva. I really need to master blow outs because I hate the stylist experience. I hate perfect ends and unless you are severely damaging your hair, frequent trims are not necessary, especially for evenness. As soon as your hair starts to grow, it will be uneven again.

I haven't had a trim since....maybe January??? I can't remember. whenever I decide to get a touch up..I'm kinda scurred though...I also kinda wanna get a blunt cut...

My fine strands are plagued with splits and lots of them. I'd have to cut half my hair to get them all :(

I am a frequent trimme and duster. Nothing I do is gonna stop my hair from splitting so I'm trying not to worry about it.

I hardly trim my hair, because I rarely straigthen it. IT is hard to cut a fro lol. But when ever I do striaghten my hair my ends look awful, but after I bantu knot them they look amazing, so I kind of ignore my ends, one day their nice one day their not.
